Grey's method is a cursed camera you can see dangling on the stone tongue. The camera transforms sampled minerals into the flashbulb. The produced Polaroid picture is somehow linked to the resulting statue. If the picture is destroyed then the dragon would be restored.. but that's not very likely at all.
