Actually it's for holding sideways so you can't get sucked into a badger hole and eaten. 83 I saw some show about sinkholes and people really did wear sticks strapped across their backs because of some old mining operation that caused a lot of sinkholes.

That'll only work if you have a killer strong grip, and if the badger isn't persistent enough to just slurp his way upwards if you can't be pulled down.

While that movie did use Jeeps, I know it wasn't the JP franchise. This was from some broadcast movie that I think woke me up in the middle of the night. The plot was like in the middle of Africa. No idea what the name was.

First, it's a badger. It doesn't have hands! A pit trap is about all it can manage. Second, it'll take it longer to digest its catch than it will to dig a new pit. That seems like a win to me. 83
