Minecraft: Bow of Kindred WIP for Kindred Legacy 1.1.0
Oh hey, something actually new to share, even if it is unfinished.
This is the Bow of Kindred, an item originally made for PokemonMD: Undaunted Heroes but in a version of the mod that never made it to a public release. I posted a screenshot a while back of the finished Minecraft 1.7.10 version. Here we have it being remade for Minecraft 1.11. Which is a huge pain in the ass.
The bow was one of my most beloved creations for 1.7.10 and I so badly wanted it back in Kindred Legacy.
This screenshot shows the bow as it is being drawn in a horizontal position like its original inspiration, Kindred (Lamb) from League of Legends. This positioning is one of few times I've seen any real use for the .json format items were given between Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.8, a feature that absolutely killed or cripple so many mods. Supposedly the .json format was added so people would easily change the positioning of the item while the game was running (without having to restart the game each time). I tried this and it doesn't do that. I have to restart Minecraft each time to get the changes to show. Wtf Mojang was the point of killing so many mods for this feature? And how many items even make use of this?
To put this in perspective how obnoxious I think the .json format is, the vanilla Compass item has to have 63 .json files for it. =\
Another frustration I have for the .json format is now I have no idea how to make the bow glow like it did in 1.7.10. I submitted a help request in the Minecraft Forge forums but haven't received any help. -.-'
The bow here is still a WIP. The arrows you see stuck in the ground are supposed to be the custom arrows fired but they still have the original vanilla arrow texture. I'm still trying to fix that.
Then I will move on to the most important feature, the ability to hold the Sneak key to fire three arrows at the three nearest targets in view and relatively close range (the bow automatically fires at the targets with the correct arrow trajectory). I actually believe this will be one of the easiest things to accomplish for this bow, unlike all the rendering crap I've had to do.
And last, this screenshot features some special guests: Bandersnatch Fennekin and in the background (who I didn't know were there when I took the screenshot), Snow Sorceress Braixen and the mostly un-shown new mob Mu Buneary who is all ready to go for Kindred Legacy 1.1.0.
