Oh yes, they're very cool - and they've got an intimidatingly awesome themesong too haha
Loved having one by my side in MHST, shame its themesong doesn't play in that game though aaah x)

One thing I liked is that the monsters all retained their detailed appearances, they just had a different 'shading style' to them - unlike compared to say Felyne Village DX where everything looked like the plush toys xD (Tigrex for example, though sometimes I think the plushes may have been based off of that heh)
What's interesting - or odd, depending on how you want to look at it - is that when you hatch your garuga it looks perfectly normal, but then once its a juvenile its ear is damaged and its missing its eye. What'd you do, hit it with a hammer right after it was born? xD
Aaah I never actually made it that far in MHX so I wouldn't have known :o
When I was fightin' the garuga boss in ST I'd always have its theme playing on iTunes next to me haha, made it a bit more dramatic! Especially since it took me like five tries to beat him. The island theme was okay (Nowhere near as good as lagiacrus/moga's theme was though hah) but for a fight like that it needed something more~
Come to think of it, none of the themesongs were used in this game. I guess since the fights are typically over much faster than they tend to be in the main series (A few boss fights aside) they didn't think it'd be needed? Hm. I know that parts of Zinogre's theme is remixed into the Arena theme, and a few friends said that it sounded like a part of Chaotic Gore's theme was put into one of the boss tracks... I never reached C-Gore either heh so I wouldn't know. I adore the theme it was used in though~
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9xBLl0Hv7M Last time it shows up in the game (It uses a different version of it from Lagiacrus onwards). I didn't find the OST on YouTube (Admittedly I didn't look very hard) other than some tracks from the Demo, but it's probably up there somewhere.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IXcGW1PdII I liked the volcano theme, both the 'general' theme (When fighting small monsters and some 'lesser' large monsters) and the secondary theme of it, like when fighting mons such as Agnaktor or Brute Tiggers. I'm still very disappointed we couldn't have agnaktor or at least uroktor in this x'3
Mm, and you might notice I'm using jaggy armor in that Tigrex fight... Jaggies actually come into the game fairly late in this, so the stats on their equipment is higher than in the main games - I don't know what the skills do, but it has a slightly higher base Armor than Agnaktor's (Because you don't see your first jaggi until a little bit after the Volcano region)
... Mmm jaggies~ I loved being able to use one in this~ Of course they're not very strong (Out of the Bird Wyverns, only the Yian Garuga really is) but I still adored riding one around. I especially liked that the Great Jaggi (and Baggi) both call in their packs to assist in their 'special attack' when you use them, might not be as dramatic as Zinogre, Lagiacrus, Barioth... Or as cute 'n hilarious as Yian Kut-ku's or Brachydios's... But I liked it all the same~ Zamtrios, Yian Garuga and Seregios also had fairly "normal" looking attacks, which I actually kind of liked. The flashy dramatic ones were cool and all, but something about the mundane ones were appealing to me in a different way~
FA will probably break this link since I've already pasted two but...
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li.....uSx24dnVREL1J6 I'd been recording the different attacks you can make your mons pull off here, before I got wrapped up in IRL and had to set things aside. A cute little touch is that when the monster's element changes, the visuals in their attack changes too. The two rathalos attacks I uploaded for example (Both belonging to my friend
Larynkir ) differ quite a bit.
... Oh maan, I wish I had tigrex's uploaded. That one was one of my favorites - he goes and breaks everything x3 Somewhere in my MH video list though I've got recordings from the Demo though, where I used their attacks near the end of the story-mode quest where it has you fight a Khezu. Barioth be channeling its Kushala heritage for its attack ahaha xD
