What does one in that condition cost to buy?

Hard to say. It is a one of a kind car with all the stuff I did with it to hot rod it. Some people may like it and others not.

You'll pay a lot less than a first gen, but still more than an 82 or newer. It all really depends on the condition of the car you want to buy.

Thats where I want to be, but at nearly 10 grand for running condition I'm thinking 85-87 3rd gen. Iroc-z is a very nice camaro.

Depends on your local market, here i'd say 5 grand gets you a good body with decent running condition, 8-10 is excellent condition both structural and mechanical as well as interior wise.

I stopped at 87 because of the local emissions laws and I dont want to have to bother with getting my car e-tested. You could go right up to 91 depending on your local laws, even get a 350 TPI which was good for 245 HP stock.

This is going to be a drag car

Then get anything with four wheels that'll accept a SBC, even better a BBC and get 4.11's or 3.73's with a posi, massive drag radials and strip everything outta the car you don't need.

Get a Gremiln drop in a built 401! AMC motors are great drag motors. Forged crank and rods from the factory good flow # on the heads.

I always get that. People always expect some old person to be driving an old muscle car. They are always amazed when a guy in his 20's is driving an old car.

Oh, it's not that unusual to me, I was in a band with a guy who drove a 1969 Barracuda he'd restored. ^^ AMXes are jusrt rare around here period, I don't think I've seen one that wasn't at a car show since I was a kid.

AMXs are rare everywhere, as are all AMCs. That is what makes them fun. People are always trying to guess what it is.

I very, very briefly owned a 2 door matador, nothing hot but it was painted nice, until I was forced to get it off the lawn. It also didn't really have floors, I'd gotten it as a graduation gift for $300, and sold it for about half. ahaha, but, I've still got my 72 Maverick. Also I'm 23. Old cars are it, man

I always tell Chevy guys to put an AMC motor in their cars. AMC motors have alot of advantages: big flow numbers on the heads, very strong blocks, forged crank and rods from the factory!

I definitely dig those shaved bumpers in the front and back. That's what I want to go for with my Concord, to give it a more muscular look.

That's cool. It's a little worn from being an 81, it's got that landau roof on it. It runs, but it rides down the road a little wonky and loose.

Just needs overhauled top to bottom, to be perfect again, but overall it's in real good shape.

They were supposed to be a 2 seat sports car like the Corvette. The Compact muscle car would be the SC/Rambler

for compact try Nash Metropolitain or Crosley cars
