The Hunt - [Art by Wyn-de-Weynilard, Story by Me]
Before you start reading the Story, let me say some things about this commission.
At last year’s Eurofurence (22) Lunakia and I met the amazing
Wyn-de-Weynilard back then she did some amazing sketches for the both of us and was super friendly!
When thinking about what I could gift Lunakia for Christmas, wyn-de-weynilard came to my mind and I asked her for this traditional commission.
From the beginning to the end, Wyn stood in close contact with me, discussed every single and every tiny detail on this drawing.
We soon realized it was much bigger than we both imagined, but Wyn took the challenge and exceeded my expectations in so many ways, that I can’t even describe it.
Even the first sketches were thought through to the smallest detail and we discussed all of it.
If I were to give a number of WIPs, that I received, I can say that there were more than 300 of those!!!
I am proud to say that Wyn and I became friends and I feel very very honored by all the work she had put into this drawing.
Just to specify, the drawing is traditional and in A3 size!!!
Please go check out her original Upload and give her some love! She definitely deserves it! :3

The Hunt
„I got it, Fero, I got it!“, Luscinia almost shouted as she ran towards the melanistic anthropomorphic jaguar with green markings all over the body. He had just put his sword belt back on and was tightening the straps. His sword was sticking in the ground beside him. They were walking through some old Mayan ruins and the jaguar had stopped to look at what he identified as a huge jaguar head carved out of stone. Lucy, the grey tiger, had walked a little further to check out a direction they could maybe find their prey. „You got the huge boar beast that was attacking that village close by?“, he asked as he pushed the knife into the sheath on his bracer. „yes, stupid, what else would we be hunting here?“ Lucy grabbed his hand and immediately turned around to rush off in the direction she came from. „hey! My sword!“ Ferolux said in surprise and grabbed it in the small time he could still reach it. He loved how enthusiastic Lucy was about this hunt and his feelings altered the screen on his collar to show some red hearts. Only seconds later, the ruins were left alone again. Their old shapes hidden from the world and crumbling under natures tight grip.
„yep. You hit it good. It’s losing a lot of blood. But not enough to die fast.“ Ferolux was kneeling down and looking at the trail of blood the boar had left behind. His sword still in his right paw, he used it to push some branches away from the spot where Lucy had hit the boar.
„wow.. My arrow went straight through it!“, Lucy said and pointed at the bushes in front of a tree. The arrow was stuck in the tree and it’s feathered end was sticking out of the bush.
„it did. Slashed a big wound with that bladed tip you put on there.“ He pulled the arrow out of the tree, which was a lot easier that he expected. “Hm… that’s odd…”, he mumbled as he looked at the tip of the arrow. The three blades that once stood out from the center spike were completely crumbled or shattered. Blood was all over it, as well as something that could have been bone fragments. “I think you might have hit a bone. Look at that Arrow, it’s completely ruined and had just enough energy to embed itself into the tree.
Taking the arrow from the Jaguar to inspect it herself, Lucy let out a small sigh. “Seems I got to use stronger blades on new arrows. Lucky boar. Let’s follow the blood and give those villagers some rest.” Ferolux sheathed his sword on his back while standing up, then the two anthropomorphic cats started to follow the boar’s tracks. They didn’t even need to see all the droplets. The strong scent of blood was a perfect guide.
The boar made it through dense underwood and tight spaces. The two cats split up left and right as they got closer to the boar to flank it. It was hard to get beside or in front of it, but after a while of running, Lucy had a small window for a clear shot. She pulled the string of her bow way back, aimed only for a blink of an eye and let go. The arrow, again fitted with a bladed tip, cut through the air and some leaves until hitting the boar in its shoulder. For only a second it seemed to stop, then it started to speed up, leaving Lucy behind with a confused look on her face, before she could continue the chase. Ferolux had quite a challenge to get ahead of the boar. Apparently, he had chosen the worst path possible. His path was blocked by branches, lianas and fallen trees. It took a lot of jumping and doing quick direction changes to not run into something, all while trying to get in front of the boar.
The tigress had it a lot easier, her path was more open and once she had caught up to the boar again, she just had to wait for another spot to send her hopefully deadly arrow on its way. The jaguar pulled the sword from his back. Still running, Lucy was already aiming for the boar, which seemed to get faster, as if the blood loss didn’t bother it at all. Another Arrow cut through the air. This time going straight through the boar’s ribcage and splitting some branches behind the beast.
“what the…?” Lucy mumbled as again she needed to catch up to the boar. Ferolux finally saw his chance. The boar’s and his path would cross just right for an attack. The Jaguar ran over a fallen tree and jumped right over the boar’s path. His sword met little resistance as it cut through flesh and bone. With more time, he would have aimed a little better, but it did its job. The cut was deep and cleanly cut through the beast’s spine, right under its ribcage. The hind legs moved a little more, not realizing there were no commands anymore, then the boar dropped to the ground, slipping and rolling through some branches and against a tree.
The jaguar was walking over to the now crippled beast to kill it, when an Arrow cut through the air, travelled only a few centimeters under his arm and nailed the boars head to the tree. The chase was over.
“Ha! I told you I got it, didn’t I?”, Lucy said as she walked up to the boar, passing Ferolux and giving him a soft slap to the butt. Then bowed down to her prey and removed the arrow that was deeply embedded in its shoulder. The Arrow was broken. Pulling the last arrow from the head and tree, she sighed a little, as this one was broken as well. Ferolux grabbed some leaves from the surrounding trees and stood beside Lucy while cleaning his sword. “yep. You hunted it all alone… only you, and the boar. Alone. in the forest...”, he giggled, put the sword on his back and hugged the tigress.
