Adventurer’s Travels: The Riders of Beasts
Dismissed from the presence of the Royalty, I moved in a daze with my heart racing within my chest as I moved deeper into this thriving haven. Me? A Lord? Perish the Thought! Yet against all sense I was now walking amid a sea of jovial Commoners. The thoughts of my quests raced through my head as I couldn’t contemplate the significance of the Nymph’s whispers or what they might know of this magic. I’d never even met Trademasters before outside of very meager settlements. If I was to look into the situation in regards to this far off land, I’d need to charter a ship! But while Lord I was in title, Commoner I was in funds.
My troubled mind however was soon interrupted as the stomping of an exotic beast caught my attention. I had seen many steeds before, but one such creature as this I had not! Apparently in the years between the last time I had strode behind this Castle walls, the King had procured exotic and mighty beasts to add to his army.

Having to bare my colossal weight on it's back? Aside from this the Elephant seemed quite happy and to greatly enjoy the attention. She was well fed, watered, and treated the entire time I could observe and there was even a weight limit to protect her from injury.
While it isn't your weight specifically, it is several people over a length of time, along with the padding that you get to sit on. That padding is to protect your bottom from the spinal protrusions you are riding directly on top of. Think of the wear on the elephant as much like a person carrying a heavy backpack over a number of months: It will wear down the spine over time, even though the person can carry the backpack without much fuss.

Oh, well thank you! Again though everything seemed A-okay and the Elephant isn't there every year, I think every other. It all seemed light weight, like aluminum, and the staff seemed quite knowledgeable in tending to her. I'm sure every precaution was made to ensure the longevity and health of their elephant.
The only way to really do that is to stop letting people ride her completely. I understand that they may be taking precautions, but it's still more about making a bit of money than having a happy, healthy elephant in the end, unfortunately. I just wanted to spread a bit of awareness, since this practice really has no positive effect on the elephant.
