A discarded idea for Gremlins 2 was Lenny's character development - a sequence in the kitchen where Spider Mohawk, George and Lenny, having captured Gizmo, were about to kill him by cutting him into pieces - only a few images of the storyboard can be found at Gremlins Wiki

He suddenly switch sides standing up for himself, punching Mohawk and grabbing and tossing George on to him, and the two falling into an oven, killing them. From that point on he became Gizmo's protector - it's unclear whether he would have still survive the events of the film had the team go with this scenario, but he would've been the first Gremlin ever to turn good.

The idea was discarded for it been to violent and dark compared to the wacky nature of the film.

This is why it would have been better to kept him as a Mogwai and taken one of the discarded designs to be a Gremlin in his place.

During this period, I still used MSNpaint to do the lines, which is quite noticeable, yet Adobe was used for the effects. For me this was a method for short cuts when I had so much art, back then, I still didn't fully used my drawing pad as I do now. Lenny and Gizmo kinna became the point I recognized that I needed to start training with the pad more.
