Whoa, the lute came out really damn good.

I used the line tool for strings, then rubber at 40% opacity to add the shines to them. Too bad the pegs are a bit to squashed to see the details.

For some reason, I picture him having Ian Anderson's voice.

He did a collaboration with Blackmore's Night on a track called "Play Minstrel, Play". I think it's the most fitting song for this picture.

Wow. Love the detail on the lute. Bells on the tail are an odd choice. The details and all are pretty awesome. You really pulled out the stops for this last one.

If I was gonna go out, I'd rather go out with a bang rather than a whimper. I've reconsidered my decision at some point but behaviour of certain people lead me to believe I've done the right thing.

Your artwork is improving. I think you might have reached a point where you should focus on trying to keep this same level of quality but have a faster turn-around. I remember seeing roughs of this weeks ago from you.

The main problem was the lute. I spent weeks digging into the subject - number of strings pegbox config etc. Most of the time I was just applying what I found out about the lute/bards.

Oh and the feet. God how they were hard to draw.

Research can be so distracting too, I waste hours of time getting screenshots or reading about what I'm looking up on Wikipedia.

Huh, I thought I commented on this ages ago. Apparently not. Well, it's a really lovely piece. I like all the warm colours. It's probably too late for criticism, as is often the case with these things. I feel like the bells on the tail don't look metallic enough, and this could have been made better by increasing their contrast and adding some small, pure white highlights on them.
