This one is a birthday gift that I made for one of my best IRL friends, when he turned 23. One of the three persons who I would act furryish in front of, and who I would thrust to take photos of me if I ever were to fursuit. He's a great photographer and you can see his works here: http://catokusanagi.deviantart.com/
Worked on it for about 6 hours, as a practice for various techniques I wanted to try, like Photoshop use of the Pen Tool, Anime eyes technique, painting fire and Yayster's Pokémon art style.
About this last one I have to say that the result is not exactly the same. It's a very difficult technique -it seems that you need to choose the colors very carefully to achieve the shading a la Ken Sugimori- The end result was quite good nevertheless. It's like a fusion of my style of Cell Shading and Ken Sugimori's style. ^^;
Those are the eyes most beautiful I've ever drawn. I totally got the technique. And the fire, shadows and gradients was a nice idea that came out very good (poor excuse for a lack of a background XD)
Lastly but not least, I don't have the shame to say that the lineart was traced; Kudos to Kouki Saitoi and his wonderful and beautiful work as TCG illustrator =^_^= The original illustrations that I took are from two cards in EX FireRed & LeafGreen and EX Holon Phantoms sets. The direction of the light source in the originals inspired in me this beautiful composition.

We are both Mexican, but he's not furry.
I'm not really that great, in reality I suck at proportions, but I'm very good with digital tools. I took techniques from four persons to get this, and the lineart is traced from two of our most favorite TCG cards (we were really BIG on the TCG scene back then).
