“It’s pretty uncommon for me to already be friends with someone, and then to suddenly have the spell kick in. I don’t really understand it completely (things would be easier if I did!) but the spell’s criteria doesn’t just look at a person’s physical appearance, but their natural energy as well – their life force or ‘soul’ or whatever you want to call it. It’s not easy to just suddenly meet those criteria.

“Age is the one factor that could be a danger. There’s definitely a set age range, and I might ignore a young girl only to find her suddenly irresistible when she gets older. Even that is pretty rare, though, and I think it’s only happened once or twice.

“But as far as your question about meeting someone via it happening, or being introduced to someone and having it happen? That happens a lot. You have to understand, when I say irresistible, I mean it: the first time I see someone, or the first whiff of their scent I get, I immediately know they’re one of my targets, and their fate is sealed. It doesn’t matter if they’re a friend of a friend, or what have you. I CANNOT stop myself from grabbing them and shoving them down my throat. I might be able to hold myself back for a minute or two at most – but if they try to run, I have to give chase. At least up to this point, no one has ever actually gotten away from me – I don’t know what would happen if someone did.

“How my friends react varies wildly depending on the friend. Some will be upset, but most seem to be pretty understanding. I usually make sure my close friends understand my nature, so they know what might happen if they introduce someone new to me. Those in the know can sometimes even recognize my expression when it’s about to happen – and they know that, at that point, there’s not a lot they can do to stop me.”
