Sure! I made a sketch on one layer (normal mode), then put the flat colors underneath that (also normal mode), then above the color layer I made a shadow layer (multiply), and above that a highlight layer (overlay), and once I'm happy with the lighting I copy all of them, merge the copies, and paint all on that merged layer to cover up the leftover sketch and paint in details. Then, with some extra layers atop that one, I add details such as backlighting, additional highlights, and a low opacity paper texture.
