This creature is a member of an advanced, sentient species much similar to humans, they have rich society and culture. The one major way they differ is the strength of their spirituality and faith, which is based around their moon gods

Every one of these creatures is born with a small yellow or blue spur embedded in their forehead, but occasionally one will have theirs grow into a crescent moon shape that proves their existence as the presence of the moon on earth. This is usually called a moon child or moonling, and there's usually only one or two at a time, it's very rare

Once the horn appears they are supposedly connected to the realm of spirits and are forbidden to talk for the remainder of their existence - if they speak, the horn falls off and the connection is broken. Worse still, if they try to explain what they experienced, they will die

Aside from the horn, the fur pales and markings disappear. They are also taken care of out of respect, waited on for all things so that often in old age their senses are dull and their muscles have atrophied from lack of use

Their only task is to observe leader meetings and direct the will of the heavens through nods and head shakes, but most often they offer no input

Only the moonling knows what the gods command
