I decided to do a sketch based on one of my favorite band's album names, 'Mechanize'. So using 'Mechanize' as the idea, I wanted to draw someone in a robotic mechanized form, and I was fighting with this idea for a few days "Who do I draw, mecha Vivien, mecha Arktic?"
I decided to kill a secondary bird with one stone. Without any references, even his own refs, I drew a Fox. Xander to be specific, because I really think it helps to show that I do have a style now that with no assistance or guides that is what I believe constitutes a fox in my head. I don't normally draw feral style foxes, but it was a good exercise to do so. Then I copied his lines, and used them as a guide for making "Mecha Xander", a robotic fennec fox, because why not?
<3 Fluffy Xander, I wish foxes were not so much work to keep as pets. I would love to have a Fennec fox, they're so cute!
