Here is my newest fursona he is very special to me as he is based on a real dog that I encountered today on a trail that I took my dog on. I have nicknamed him Red and he is a lost dog either that or someone dumped him in the middle of the desert where the trail is. I made a journal more about him and you can read it here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8147097/ anyway I am going back out there tomorrow to see if I can capture him. I know he is friendly because he wanted to come to me he wanted me to help him. But my dog barked at him and it scared him off. I kept seeing him every so often when we were on the trail. But since my dog barked at him he would not come to me.
I feel horrible though because he was seeking help and he found me and I could not do anything because my dog scared him off he was trying to come to me but Bentley had to scare him off. I feel like I failed him in away. I really think he is a lost dog or worse a dog who has been dumped by there owner. Because he had no water when I saw him he was in the shade next to a tree on the trail. He was a brown Pit bull like the one you see here and he had a reddish pink collar on with no tags. He even had two black spots on his tongue as well. And hazel eyes.
I honestly don't think I will be able to sleep tonight not knowing that he is ok because we have a bunch of coyotes in our area and other wildlife animals that he won't stand a chance to. Another thing that concerns me is that pits don't do to well in heat and can get heat exhaustion very fast especially with no water and you need to have water when you are in the desert. And he had none and he was panting like crazy.
So my plan for tomorrow is that I take a bag of dog treats, a leash and see if I can try and capture him from what I have been taught from when I used to volunteer at our local Humane Society. Once I have him on a leash I plan to take him to my vet that I use for my own dog and see if he is chipped. If he is not chipped then I will take him to a no kill shelter.
I would call animal control or the Humane Society but since they kill there animals and are not a no kill shelter I refuse to get them involved. I do not want them to get involved and put him down just because his 5 days are up. No he has a chance at getting a home and if he needs to be in a shelter for a long time then so be it. But it will not be at the pound or at the Humane Society.
I also might need a friend to temporary home him until I can get him to a no kill shelter. I know we have them I just don't know of any close to me. I really hope this plan works and that I am not to late. If I don't see him tomorrow then I will keep trying until I leave on our trip on Thursday if I don't find him I am going to feel really horrible.
