It's that time of year again... Macro March! I'm still keeping at these! And managing to keep them short too, even. I actually knocked this one out as part of a sneaky stream attempt earlier today. Took a few suggestions, spun Wheel Decide, and settled upon
Mannoth's Tali as the growtagonist of this latest story!
Macro March: Any Port In the Storm
By: RaddaRaem
Mewling to herself, Tali’s pink padded soles papped against the cobblestones as she sprinted towards the Loom. Ominous storm clouds, tinted with suffocating purple hues, roiled overhead. She could feel the spitting rain plop against her rolling blonde locks and splayed kitty ears.
The vaunted library loomed tall some blocks away. Its windows, pocking the ornate stonework stretching from the grassy lawns to the slanted stone shingles lining its roof, flared alive with the reflections of the lightning crackling across the sky.
“I think I can, I think I can, I will I can, I will I can!” the leopardess huffed. It wasn’t a matter of if she’d get wet. It was just a matter of how much so. Flipping up her lavender hood, the feline patted at her petite chest as her lungs strained. Feats of strength, or really anything resembling strenuous physical activity, were not her strong suit! Gods, she could already imagine the snoot and sass Tom would lob her way had he bothered to tag along. She suppose she couldn’t complain too much about the inclement weather given that it had scared off the enchanted book from daring to venture outside along with her.
A flash of light illuminated the entire town. Roaring and deafening thunder followed seconds after as the very ground trembled and latent macro magic filled the air.
“No no no!” Tali pleaded as the fur lining her spotted tail stuck out from the mixture of fear and electrical currents that permeated the atmosphere. Faint layers of water came to coat the stones beneath her paws while her every furious footfall sent droplets splashing up against her ankles. The pitter patter of rain against her dampening hoodie came to be drowned out by her panting.
Shoulders slumping, with her sopping wet hoodie clumped against them, the leopard hmphhed as she stumbled towards the stairs leading up to the Loom’s entrance. It wasn’t like she could get any wetter at this rate.
A sing song jingle, along with a whiny wooden creak, greeted Tali when she pushed the double doors open. A thump, accompanied by the thooming of thunder, pierced the air when they swung shut. Kitty cat lips curled down into a frown, Tali regarded the empty librarian’s desk, and the bone dry guests that sat at the tables surrounding it, with a harrumph.
She could just imagine herself sitting there, snug as a bug and dry as could be, dutifully stacking and sorting books as she reveled in the subdued ambience of it all on a stormy day. Rain thrumming against the roof and windows while she contentedly wandered amongst the book shelves putting tomes in their place. All while she contentedly waited out the storm.
Arms tossed out at her sides, water dripping from her wrists, Tali sighed. It’d be ages before she had dried off enough to dare approaching, much less interact with, any of the knowledge the Loom had to offer.
Plump and padded toes squelching against the carpet, she trudged off towards one of the well hidden restrooms. Navigating among the labyrinth of aisles, oaken shelves thick with the spines of books older than this very town stretching towards the library’s second story, she finally made her way to her hidey hole. Squelches gave way to squeaks as she carefully tread upon the tiled floor.
Hrmmphing, Tali struggled to tug her form fitting hoodie off. Standing before a mirror, her reflection pitifully peered back at her as the artificial bathroom lighting flickered overhead. Pinching her fingers against one of her wrists, she tugged one arm, then another, up through her sleeves. Swaying side to side, the leopardess reluctantly cracked a smile as her empty sleeves flopped about at her sides.
Cheeks puffed out, she pushed up at her hoodie’s restrictive neck and mewled as the fabric practically peeled itself off her damp kitty self. As dark purples obscured her view, the leopardess was left unaware to the fact her feet spilled out and across tile after tile as she subtly swelled. With a pop, and a plop, Tali tossed her hoodie into the sink with a relieved sigh. Running her hand through her golden hair, she went wide eyed when she realized the mirror before her only captured her up to her neck.
Heart thumping, Tali papped at her cheeks. T-there was no Cordest! A-and she certainly hadn’t let her spells slip or at least she didn’t think she had! Inhaling deeply, she clenched her eyes shut and reapplied her size shifting spells for the sake of being certain. The ether flowing through and along limbs felt right, felt at ease, felt-
“MEWL!”
Clutching her hands to her head, Tali smarted when her ears brushed against the burning hot bulbs along the ceiling. Crouching, her knees knocking shards of porcelain off the sink when she did so, Tali fretted at what could have possibly gone wrong. If none of the usual magical misfires or mischief were responsible for this then what?
“S-surely it isn’t the weather!” She tried to reassure herself to faltering avail. Mmmmmmmph shoot. Shoot shoot shoot. Given how recalcitrant and insistent Tom was upon venturing outside it probably was. “He knew, didn’t he?” Tali hiffed and huffed at the realization. Dropping to her knees, tiles cracking beneath her tremendous toes, she shyly took to crawling out of the bathroom.
Her now generous hips caught in the doorframe upon her exit. Lips pulled flat, she hurriedly tugged herself free even as she felt her shorts slide further and further down her cheeks with every inch of progress. Reaching back to clasp at her clothing’s thankfully elastic waist, she embarrassedly made herself presentable once more as she plotted her escape.
Thooms and trembles, that did not belong to the storm raging outside, shook the library and sent books teetering off their shelves as a tremendous Tali made her way through. Shoulders bunched together, she groaned at all the work she was making for herself as her head came to peek above the book shelves.
“H-hello! Um, excuse me,” Tali shyly mewed at the various guests. “So umm… this may or may not be the first time you’ve had to deal with this before but I’m uhh… uncontrollably growing. Again. I-I know the weather outside is something frightful but if you’d be so kind as to umm…” The leopardess meeped as her bosom heaved forward. Like a line of dominos, her bwoomphing bust sent the book shelves toppling one after another. Stumbling back, her now bubble butt prompted the same kind of disaster to befall the bookshelves behind her. Clouds of dust, along with fluttering pages, obscured her form as Tali’s lengthening legs shot out towards her patrons. The toes atop her soft, plump, table-dwarfing paws clenched embarrassedly when she felt mousey, foxy, and all sorts of fuzzy patrons get safely smooshed against them.
Dwelling on it, one giant was already disastrous enough. “…Or not,” Tali moaned with a roll of her eyes as she relegated herself to the massive mess. Ever so shyly, she kneaded the library guests beneath her thick feet into the warm, smooshy, and safe embrace of her padded toes and soles as her growth slowed. Well… it was certainly one way to wait out the Macro March storm at the very least.
