When I first time saw NiGHTS I thought he was a girl. Later I read that originally NiGHTS was made genderless, leaving the impression of the character "totally up to the player". But in NiGHTS: Journey of dreams for Wii, NiGHTS is referred as "he". Or NiGHTS might just be joking around.
