On Thursday, March 16th, I returned to the Regal Sawgrass 23 Cinema (where, throughout 2016, I witnessed the debut of a half-a-dozen different Disney movies (in order: "Zootopia", "Alice Through The Looking Glass", "The BFG", "Finding Nemo", "Pete's Dragon", and "Moana"), and once again, I got to see an advance screening of the latest Disney fare, the 2017 reboot of "Beauty And The Beast" (starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens).
This film is a combination live-action/computer-animated remake of the original 1991 cel-animated musical (the only feature-length cartoon in history to earn an Oscar(R) nomination for 'Best Picture').
In addition to viewing the main feature - in IMAX 3-D, no less - I also saw on the big screen a music video of the title tune (performed by Ariana Grande and John Legend) and a seven-minute featurette of the making of "BATB". (Plus, being a member of the Regal Crown Club, I was entitled to a free small box of popcorn and a small beverage.)
But the main reason for going to said cinema was to acquire the latest in a series of 'Collector's Tickets' from Disney movies. The imagery of this limited edition ticket (#201 out of 500) was rendered by a totally different artist (unlike the one hired last year, who drew the back sides of each title character - so that they'd be facing away from the ticket holder). Said artist used a unique effect of capturing the two main characters in a silhouette format (with 'Belle' [and the castle] in black, and the 'Beast' [and the enchanted rose pedals] in red). Said ticket is already joining the others from my 2016 collection.
This weekend, the same Regal IMAX Theater will be distributing a second 'Collector's Ticket' with the same artwork, but in black, white and silver this time. I hope to score this item, and when I do, I'll post it here in the near future. (After a brief stay in my 'Gallery', this "BATB" memento will be transferred to the 'Scraps' section of my "FA" site, as of July, 2017.)
P.S. Even though the 1991 original was far superior, I still enjoyed seeing this new version of "Beauty And The Beast". Let me know how some of you liked (or disliked) the 2017 flick, in your spare time...
