Zhey are short like we!
“But zhey are bald like zhey hoonums!”
Yogl: O-oh my….th-those… those look really quite sharp….uh…c-c-can I talk to a manager?
Vizlet: *facepalms*
-Hyperventilating ensues-
A gift picture for my friend and incredible comic book author and artist
Valsalia that is Looooooong overdue. The universe seemed dead set on delaying me in the completion of this piece despite my best intentions to have it done by Sunday. I actually badly crushed my middle finger on my dominant hand while working on my car rendering that hand unable to hold a pencil for long periods without considerable pain. By the grace of God I didn’t break it, I’ll spare you all the gory details. Just know I’m fine.
OKAY, onto the picture! Here we have the Yinglet: an original species from Val’s incredible comic series the “Out of Placers”. He had a plethora of tantalizing information on their species and the many others that appear in his universe that I highly suggest you go and check out on his page!! Suffice it to say, since they’re a young species many of them are quite dim; though innocent and filled with child-like curiosity and energy. While well intentioned, the little fellow in the foreground is attempting to get to know this strange newcomer to their Enclave much to his distress. Beside them in the brown and green is Vizlet, a very intelligent and learned Yinglet doing what she does best (Which is generally get very annoyed with having to babysit her army of rambunctious rodents)! This picture came around when I originally started reading his comic and noted a few similarities between his race and one of mine from my original sci fi series I’ve been working on for soon 13 years. So it brings me great pleasure to debut the Yogl, rocking the business casual as usual and scared out of their minds (as usual!)
(I’ll add more about the Yogl here in a bit, but I’m uploading this on the desktop which is right in the middle of the house and every time I hit the spacebar it sounds like I’m slapping fine china with a ping pong paddle)
EDIT: (OKAY IT'S LATER, LET'S DO THIS!)

YOGL INFORMATION
==========================
Native to the planet Machii, the Yogl are one of two sentient species on their homeworld and the most intelligent of the pair. Evolved from a prey species, the Yogl species’ brain increasingly developed to avoid their canine predators eventually reaching sentience. By nature a timid people heavily prone to anxiety and cautiousness, the Yogl began to organize into closely knit Tribal settlements out of necessity to repel their predators. Males would traditionally organize into search parties to scavenge for food while the more valuable females would tend to their crops, children, and camps. Out of necessity, Yogl Camps were kept small as their homeworld of Machii was very old by the time they began to develop. Because of this, the soil of Machii has a very low nutrient content which lessens its ability to sustain vegetation outside of small pockets, leaving large portions of the planet unable to grow.
This lack of vegetation has caused the Yogl to keep their population relatively low and for them to become strongly conservative as their diet is primarily vegetarian (With the exception of mollusks). Because of their communal nature, there is not diversity in views as one opinion or school of thought tends to rapidly reach others. Furthermore, this has resulted in a lack of violence towards other Yogl in their history allowing them to continue rapidly developing. However, during first contact with the other more carnivorous sentient species of their world (the Yahmii) there were several skirmishes with initial scouting parties before the two became closely knitted allies. As the Yahmii are more competent hunters, it is common for Yogl tribes to employ Yahmii as guardians for their villages or as guides into the wilderness.
At some point in their history, the Yogl species split off into two groups during explorations for better land. The bulk of the Yogl species originated from a single straight connecting two of the three continents of Machii and as their population grew, concerns began to arise as to arise to their future supporting both themselves and the Yahmii. This nomadic group of Yogl ventured into an ore rich area on the northern continent’s west coast and laid the foundation for their modern culture. The land however was barely able to sustain even a small population and as a result originated as a trading center for other nomads before eventually evolving to one of their megacities. With their highly tuned minds and abundance of ores, the former nomads rapidly began making stride into the field of technology. However, due to the inability for the city to sustain the needs of its inhabitance, the Yogl of the city have never reintegrated their Tribal counterparts to their society. Practically speaking, the Tribal Yogl are more hardy than the more Civilized Yogl whom became increasingly afraid of the wilderness; so it was decided to have the Tribal Yogl act more as their farmers and not to introduce them to their modern era.
Technologies have been applied in the fertile lands to aid in cultivating food, trading with their primitive counterparts for medicines and defenses is commonplace, and every building in their city attempts to maintain a form of garden to offset its dependency for outside food. Upon reaching their space age, the Yogl had become an economic dynamo and poured major research into attempts to re-cultivate their land with limited success. In business, law, and economics the Yogl are nearly unmatched, however their cowardly nature and limited population has greatly stunted their reach in the Pan-Galactic Community as a great deal of resources are poured into maintaining the homeworld and their colonies. As such, trade is a critical staple of their continued existence and fertile dirt or food is among some of their most highly coveted imports.
In terms of Military, the Yogl is severely lacking due to a lack of need for it. Basic weapons meant for stunning are the most common to be used by civilized Yogl, spears are the most common for the rural Yogl, and anything lethal is normally left to their robot servants. This aversion to danger has made combat, self defensive maneuvers, and a majority of other similar tasks almost solely in the hands of sophisticated and intricate battle computers and other automated systems. Manual control however can me taken as needed and Yogl Starships are equipped enough to defend themselves despite the preferred response to combat being to flee.
To this day, Yogl become increasingly anxious if isolated from others due to their meeker nature ranging from minor paranoia and anxiety to full blown panic attacks. In cases of extreme fear and isolation from others, trauma can occur which causes a Yogl to revert to a feral mindset. As such, Yogl move in groups even within their cities and home dwellings for added security. This concept extends even to their sleeping spaces as Yogl are unable to sleep alone because of their aforementioned group oriented nature. The phrase for these partners is Po’Po’Mo (Poh Poh Moo) which translates to “sleeping friend”. For Yogl who venture off of their homeworld without such partners, in order to sleep, specially designed and shaped pillows with a warm liquid bladder inside are sold.
