Practicing Magic (Animation)
This is my third upload, hahah. I've never had so many problems getting a gif on Fa.
The first version didnt play so I compressed it down to half it's resolution, if anyone has a fix for this, please halp. <3
This is a cute lil animoo I did yesterday. Having this break to practice animating has made me really, really productive. No noms with this one, I need a few that relate to the general crowd just for fun.
I want to catalog my improvements, so I can cross-reference them later.
-Smoke is hard to animate, don't attempt without lots of practice.
-Magical effects look good, but generally require some blurring, or else it takes too long to make it fluid.
-Moving body parts can be automated by making a few frames of breathing, then spacing them out semi-randomly.
-Moving hands aren't too hard to do, but make sure there are several frames for each motion, because some are reusable and the quality is apparent.
-Start with a strong base sketch, and do your best to return it to it's primary positions. tweening in some softwares causes resolution drops which will build up over time.
-Textures are... not conclusive? Should the background always look like paper? Or is clear more clean? I can't tell yet.
-Simplified characters are easier to animate, and thinner lines tween better than thick ones as long as the primary position rule is heeded.
As a side note, I never really wanted my sona to be intertwined with magic, because i found it fake and gay. But it's growing on me now that i realize how fun it is to animate. Maybe im learning animation and my sona is studying magic? Cute premise. Ill look into this more.
