I got to say I loved Goku and most of the big bad guys as well. They all just love to show off their hard upper bodies. This show was just filled with muscle brutes that knew their are hot and have no problem as they were beating each other down, showing it off. The only downer about the show was that they drag the story out far longer than it need to be. Watching many of them standing there and just laughing for five minutes till the writers could come up with the next move, no matter how sexy they look doing it, would take me out of the show. Still Goku is hot and I would not mind seeing him as a poster in your comic.
During DBZ's height here in the USA some years ago, there were numerous Internet parodies produced that emphasized the glacial speed of the DBZ story-telling, with much emphasis on all those fifteen-second closeups of each character doing all those two-frame gasps/shouts/takes/cries in their turn, and all those thirty-second overwrought powerup sequences, per character, per fight. Talk about milking for time.
I once casually calculated it took a month of twenty-minute DBZ episodes to move ten mintutes of actual storyline.

Son-Goku (Fighter Monkey) of course is the stright-lift reintroduction of the Monkey King legend of Asia (Japan, China and India all have their own versions). His flying cloud appears in all three, and his growing staff was originally intended to measure the depth of the ocean (cool in itself). The DB version (so wonderfully pictured here) is portrayed under the classic Nine Continents Rule: a lovable-if-aggrivating, wide-eyed doofus who can't stop eating, but who grows deadly serious and summons unprecedented powers when the need arises).
Kamehameha (accent on the second "me") was the greatest king of the Hawai'ian tribes, who united the islands under a single monarch. Ironic that a powerblast attack should be named after him. His name means "He Speaks Softly".

If you go and play one of Capcom's Marvel Vs. Capcom machines, Son-Son (the Monkey King himself) is one of the charactres you can select. He's shown as a lythe young monkey-boy in traditional Chinese garb, colored red. His main weapon is his staff, with one of the Big attacks being, growing the staff to screen-filling size then hurling it at his opponents.
And what is Son-Son's Super attack? Why, growing into a giant, muscle-bound monkey-monster and hitting his enemies with an energy-blast from out of his mouth, natch. Now, where have we seen *that* before..?
Way back in the 60s, one of the very-first Anime movies dubbed into English was the old story of the Monkey King and his first adventures. In the USA, this movie was called "Alakazam The Great", and had a for-the-time all-star team of voice-actors for the dub.

DBZ is one of my favorites off all time, some people say it was repetitive but no one can deny the fights were awesome, including the characters and the background music, i still get goose bumps when Gohan goes super saiyan 2 in the Cell Saga and they put that music (of coarse im talking about the japanese version) i hated the english version, im glad here in DR we had the Mexican version wich was perfectly dubbed and uncensored with the original BGMs.
Here in Dominican Republic DBZ was such a big thing, that when you walked on the neiborhood at the time it was on, you didnt see anybody outside, even on the grocery stores they had a TV on with people watching, now thats a good series.
