Ya' know...I feel like this is one of the more underrated pieces of the VIII game. =( It's kind of saddening, because when it's played "in-game"...It's kind of simple. If you notice the simple (melody) hand playing the version that was actually heard in the game, then that's almost all that you heard.
So, for all the people that argued with me that this song wasn't that beautiful, you can take it and shove it up your furry little ASS. >=/
Anything can be beautiful if given the chance...=(

Very well played! I suppose you're right about it being underrated, though, because I don't actually remember it from the game - vague snatches of it sound familiar, though. Where does it play?
I can't help but have good memories of FF8 even though it's the most heavily bashed now - for all its faults, it was my introduction to the series and JRPGs in general (as we didn't get any of them in Europe until the seventh one).

I only play the Japanese versions. :P
But as for where it's played...Hm, the only instance that I can think of, is where they're at the place that's going to seal Rinoa's powers. (Can't remember the name of that stupid building for the life of me.)
Ward is at the entrance when you're trying to escape...All silent...And fat.

No no no. "Lunatic Pandora" was the big pillar thing. I'm talking about right after the "Ragnarok" touches down, the Esthar people take Rinoa, and then when the "gang" gets back on and scolds "Squall", they go after her...XD
Okay, hold on. I'm looking for what the stupid place is called...
I believe in the English, it's called "Esthar Sorceress Memorial". Hold on, here's a picture.

Ah... that's right. And I'm sure it wasn't that long since I played it! Yes, Lunatic Pandora is... a weird pillar that's never really explained but somehow floats and is connected to the moon, and you're right, it was the Esthar Sorceress Memorial in English. I do recognize the screenshot, but to my memory you were only ever there once per playthrough.
You were only required to go there once. Yes. :D
As for what the "Lunatic Pandora" actually was...
"A crystal that causes the Lunar Cry by producing a strong energy field between the planet and the moon. It's believed to have originated in the moon. The Crystal Pillar responds to a specific location on the planet, and sends a strong directional signal. More research is required to analyze this process in detail."
Moreso...
"Originally the Lunatic Pandora was a Crystal Pillar that was discovered by the ancient Centra civilization. The Centra viewed it as a source of divine power and moved it to their own capitol, unaware that the Crystal Pillar was really a tool that reacted with the moon to aid in the Lunar Cry, the process of monsters arriving on the planet. Once the Lunar Cry hit, the capital of Centra was decimated, leaving behind only the massive crater that now makes up most of the "modern" Centra continent. The crystal pillar sank beneath the sea, only to be rediscovered by the Estharian Sorceress Adel and her troops sixty-two years later. Lunatic Pandora is a name which encompasses the Crystal Pillar and the casing that was built around it to make it mobile. "

I would tend to agree, 8 was underrated. But, in my opinion, had the best music(The Landing, Don't Be Afraid and Liberi Fatali to name a few) The Oath as done on Fithos Lusec Wecos Venosec was quite well done, as is yours I might ad.
I would also go on a limb and say that the composer himself must have thought very highly of the compositions in FFVIII, considering it's the only one represented on all 3 Black Mages albums, and is abundantly represented in the live concert disc.

Sadly, I can't seem to find games below 10, which kinda makes me feel bad since they all had such beautiful music and storylines.
This is a very beautiful song. You're very good Dustin. I have a keyboard but never practice, never seem to get the time to. *shrugs* I like listening to your stuff anyway, it's really good.
