This is a prototype for a new product I am very excited about! It is a spandex armwarmer with silicone scales cast right into the fabric. The silicone is very soft and stretchy, the same kind used to make prosthetics and masks. (Smooth-On's Dragon Skin line.)
I still have some kinks to work out in the patterning of the glove and how I cast the scales. I also want to experiment with silicone painting. I hope to be able to take commissions for these in the near future, or at least offer some finished pairs for sale ;)

Heh to be totally honest, they're kinda grabby, like a new spatula. I actually used a botched cast to gather up some cat hair off the couch. Smooth-On sells a silicone additive that makes the silicone be more frictionless; I might pick some up. The spines are squishy and fun to pinch though :3
Thanks, dude. :) I really want to experiment more with this technique. I have a buddy who is big into the mermaid community and has her own silicone tail, so I know they use power mesh to reinforce tails. I super want to try a translucent thing, kinda like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/268569.....dmade-silicone
