Yeah I know...a camera scan. My scanner's still giving me crap, so this is the best I could manage for right now. Please note that that's why it's so "shiny" in some places, it's the camera light reflecting.
Anyways, this week has been super busy for me, I have been working with a friend of a friend's little dog. He's been here since Sunday. They asked me to see if I could potty train him and socialize him with other dogs. So, here's how it's worked.
Social Interactions: Our dogs all welcomed Saiyen into their house without question. A few seconds of sniffing and tails were wagging with approval. Saiyen however would just growl an' back up when any of ours came near him for the first few days. His owners have never socialized him around other dogs, so he had no clue how to react.
Cricket, my min pin/terrier, kept play bowing at him but he just looked so confused. After a few days, he started to warm up to them and he now lets them lay right next to him without a fuss! He still hasn't played with them, but he tolerates them and that's a major improvement from the start!
Potty Training: Alright, I have to say something here. PEOPLE are the ones who need trained. Seriously. I was told from my friend of this friend that Saiyen's humans only let him out once, maybe twice, a day...and they just keep food out and available to him 24/7. Not smart! I'd like to see them only get one or two chances a day to use the bathroom and not piss their pants.
Since Saiyen has been here, I have started him on a regular routine and schedule, and he's only peed twice in the house. Each time was corrected, NOT with yelling and/or smacking (which apparently the sadistic man of the house this little guy is from has done...) Saiyen's now getting into the pattern of having his food at a certain time, and he gets out at least 5 times a day. I set up this sheet so his owners might remember how to properly care for him. Seriously. He is very good with me about telling me when he needs out, so I don't get what these people are on about with potty training. I think they should have some people training.
Anyways, sorry it's just a camera scan...and that my hand writing looks like chicken scratch lol! Enjoy.
