Kinda hard to tell it's still female given the end result ^^; (To be fair, I don't see many female dragons with beards/facial hair)

truth be told, i don't really imagine an eastern dragon would look quite the same without the beard so it's not an issue for me :P

In Chinese lore, female dragons have manes and facial hair like the males. The difference between their hair was recorded as females having "nicer" manes and larger tufts of hair at the end of the tail.

Some of the lore comes from an ancient story about a painter who was criticized by two strangers for drawing male and female dragons the same way. When he asked how exactly they would know, they responded that they were dragons and were willing to show him their forms; and then they TF'd into their dragon selves.
