Lazy coloring is laaaaaaaaazy, but I like the hito-dama flames on the tips of his tails.

If he were to become a nogitsune, rather than a myobu.
Not necessarily saying a 'what-if Rem betrayed Inari', more like a 'what if Rem became posessed by evil to betray Inari'.
What is a nogitsune? It's basically what you call an evil kitsune, or kitsune that doesn't answer to Inari. Good kitsune are myobu.

I do the same thing. XD
It's not inheriently obvious in my kitsune character (Sonja), but all the researh is there and has indeed been done.
Unlike all those people whose only knowledge of kitsune is Naruto and a bit of Yu Yu Hakusho (nothing wrong with the foxes portrayed there, but one must recognize artistic license when one sees it).
I'm also really loving that tongue.

Oh God, I hate when people ask me if I like Inuyasha/Naruto/etc just because I draw kitsune characters/have a manga full of yokai D:> *Actually doesn't like any aforementioned manga except maybe Yu-Yu-Hakusho*
The tongue is a bit Venom-inspired with a little bit of other classic yokai influence like say the karakasa XD

Hehehe, lovely lovely. X3
I know, I really have given up on drawing many yokai or other spirits just because people will assume I'm some Naruto fangirl. I was a fan of the first few arcs of Inuyasha, and Yu-Yu-Hakusho, but at the same time I know they are only inspired by lore, not the actual representation of it (at least I'm alright with saying I'm an Okami fan).

I don't give a crap if people make assumptions-they usually figure out they're wrong anyways just as you seem to have XD
Eh, I never really liked Inuyasha-it was like a rehashing of Ranma 1/2 to me, and I grew up on Ranma. Also I never got into Yu-Yu-Hakusho but that I've been meaning to remedy D:
I think the biggest thing that bugs me about some people with kitsune characters-and I see this the MOST with Naruto fans-is when said kitsune has more than 9 tails D< Makes my inner mythology buff RAGE.
Also Okami is fantastic art and story-wise, and I did a little myth-fan-gasm when they made references to certain myths and legends X3 Especially of Yamato no Orochi

Yes. Orochi made me all kind of happy. I squeed like mad when Rao showed up and turned out to be 'possessed' by the Ninetail.
See, I never watched Ranma 1/2 (although I knew of it from fighting games I had on my SNES emulator), so Inuyasha was kind of new to me.
Ugh, Kitsune characters with 11 tails and they're all sparkly and elemental and.. D=

Well, there are the four 'elements' (not including the fifth 'center' one), so it's not that absurd. It's just when they start pulling different elements out of their ass that it gets strange. Fire, Earth, Wind and Water ( Then Void/Heaven) are acceptable but beyond that it just gets kinda weird depending on the world setting. Since kitsune are associated with many fire-like apparations, it makes sense that most are of a fire affinity. In a story I'm working on regarding the four heavenly beasts, I've taken some liberty with mixing up the elements (using the japanese rather than the chinese elements), but the creature represtenting void is a kyuubi kitsune that was long driven insane.
The whole 'zomg elements all over the place' thing is amusing really =)
