"Send them up now, as fast as you can." Circuit's phone demanded, and she reached down.
Ash didn't bother to look around. She just grabbed the nearest child. "Listen to me, kit, I'm getting you our of here, but you got to work with me." She grabbed the kitten by her waist and then lifted her up. It saw the hole and reached for the bandaged hand reaching back, but it wasn't enough. "You're almost there." Ash said and put her hands under the kittens paws and then pushed her up more. Her hand met Circuits, and she was instantly pulled up.
Circuit set her down then pointed to the far side of the room. She didn't stop to think, she just follows her rescuer's finger.
Ash looked around at the other children, some took no heed and cried on the floor, but others looked to Ash and ran to her. "Angel, por favor, ajude-nos a sair também." one of the wolf pups cried and hugged her.
"Alright alright," She said and held out her arms "Come here."
The pup ran over, and she boosted him up.
Then the anteater ran up, and tugged her shirt with its tentacles "Miss, Ta mig med dig! Jag vill inte dö!" It cried and pulled more "Jag vill inte dö!"
"I can only help one at a time!" Ash shouted and then get a paw on her head as the pup was climbing up "Careful!"
"Ta mig med dig!" he cried again
"Just wait!" Ash shouted and shoved the pup up to Circuit "Alright, now I got you." She picked up the Anteater, but by then the rest were crowding around Ash too. screaming and crying in words she didn't know. Circuit, We need a larger hole!" She shouted "They're getting scared, and this is going too slow!"
"This is all we have." Circuit said "We'll have to cover this afterwards in case the water becomes vapor. I'll do what I can to work faster, but It's just us.."
The kids still swarmed her with eyes of tears and dread. Ash looked at them from time to time, and forced herself to keep lifting up child after child. She got hooves and paw marks all over her hands, back, head, and shoulders as she would lift them up to Circuit. "We still have more to pull out!" She shout "This isn't working!" And then, Circuit wasn't there, she was lifting these children out on her own. "Circuit?..." No answer "Circuit!..."
Circuit then dropped down into the hall with her. "If they can't reach, hand them to me." her phone said for her.
Ash nodded and kept going with Circuit lifting child after child up beside her. As the number grew less, Ash's arms grew sore and she was forcing herself to lift up more, It eventually happened, and she wasn't able to lift a shoulder anymore; she had to lie against the wall and rest. Circuit continued on though, sometimes two children at a time, some times one. But when her legs and arms seemed shaky, she didn't stop. By the time the last child to the next floor, she was panting hard.
"We still need to get Torrent out." Circuit's phone said while she "She's on the other side of the wall?"
"Yeah, but if that water is down here, she could already be contaminated." Ash said "I havent even heard a sound from her by now. Do you tthink we're too late?"
"I don't know," her phone replied; she looked at the flames, wincing at them"The water could have been stopped or slowed by the elevator, but I still need to pull her out."
"Okay, but what if she is dead?" Ash said, and got up "I'm not saying I'll give up, but whether it's too late or not. You still got a wall of fire between you and her."
"I'll find a way." her phone answered for her "I need to."
