I commissioned this picture as a Mother's Day gift for my Mom.
Cooking is one of my greatest joys, and she was my teacher. She is my biggest supporter and most trusted friend. The kitchen tends to be the heart of an Italian home, and cooking an expression of our love. There was no better place or way to show our bond.

The Heart of the Home

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home.
But to me is also the heart of a family.
It’s where traditions are passed on, expanded and refined.
It’s where I learned to craft a meal from my mother, and her sisters and their mother.
It’s where meals are lovingly prepared – and where friends and family gather to share them.
It’s where I learned life’s simple joys – the smell of baking bread, the sound of boiling soup, and the sight of a dish beautifully prepared.
So while the kitchen is the heart of the home – it is also part of the family’s heart, and the hearts of those who live there.

And of all the kitchens I’ve been in, I love my current one the most.
I still love those kitchens of my past, but unlike those that came before this is my kitchen, in my home, and an expansion to my family’s heart.
