Vore Tournament - Hands and bulges
Before I begin: I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that I'm still in great need of Patreon supporters. If you like this feature, as well as other additions and improvements done periodically, please consider supporting Vore Tournament! If you can't support, please tell other furries and vore enthusiasts about the project, and remind them to pledge if they like what they're seeing. While the $250 monthly support I have right now is a blessing, it's still nowhere near what me and my mother need for a stable living.

Onto business: Two days ago, I was examining my progress on VT thus far, thinking to myself "what else could make the experience even better and more realistic". Two things popped to mind: Prey seeing the predator's hands grabbing them as they are engulfed, and preds seeing their own bulging stomach as they look down. Then I set myself a challenge: Could I do both in a single day... for all player models I designed for VT? Despite going to bed at 5AM, I have beaten this challenge yesterday. As of latest GIT master:
- While being swallowed, the prey first sees their predator's hands to the sides of their view, grabbing them and drawing them in. The maw itself now appears after halfway swallow progress.
- When swallowing other players, you will now see your stomach slowly bulging outward. This uses a different view model based on the front side of the body, which works just like the mouth and glides forward from behind the camera. Currently it represents either your predator progress or your stomach load, whichever is the greatest.

Not sure how you mean. This change implements a bulging belly for the 1st person view, which of course shows from the perspective of your eyes (like the in-hand gun). If you want a view of your character from below, set "chase_active 1" to go into 1st person mode where you can rotate the camera vertically to look up.
I am aware of that, and I'm sorry this is being such an annoyance for people. Currently I need to stick to GIT to ease the development process, and run it against Xonotic's own GIT. A release will happen in some form, but I need to solve a few things: Where I'll host it, making sure it runs against latest Xonotic release, and also fix some obvious bugs first.
It won't come with an installer though, especially since I use Linux and don't have that. It will be distributed as a zip, which you'll simply extract into your Xonotic installation and run.

There are a few tutorials for it out there. Also you can use the msys2 prompt once the git dependency is installed, with "git clone http://foo.bar" to clone and "git pull" to update. I know this is a limitation for a lot of people, but right now VT 2.0 is in early Alpha and I'm still planning on when and how I'll be making a release. I'm set to make the release happen this year, hopefully not too late in it... I don't wish to make any promises yet however.
Xonotic.exe is for 64bit, Xonotic-x86.exe is for 32bit... run it for whatever your system architecture is. You should however rename them to be lowercase, just to be on the safe side.
And that's not a program: It's the command line argument you need to call the exe with, as you must pass that parameter to Darkplaces for it to load the Vore Tournament data after the Xonotic one. Either type that in a cmd prompt, or ideally create a shortcut to xonotic.exe and edit it to add "-customgamedirname2 data_voretournament" after the exe file.

Yep. The old VT is pretty much dead, but I'm now working on a port written on top of Xonotic's mutator hooks. It's almost there in terms of having all essential features reimplemented... of course it won't be identical, and new features are added whereas some of the old functionality will not come back.
I will at some point, just not right away. I need to figure out a separate location to host it at, test my code against the latest Xonotic release, and must also make sure no game-breaking bugs are left. I aim to have a release done not too late this year, but can't make any promises till then!
If you're willing to struggle a bit with the current setup, feel free to PM me and tell me where you're stuck. I managed to help several users get VT working by offering instructions on specific steps. Note however that I no longer have Windows, and must rely on guesswork when it comes to any non-Linux tools.

After some fenagling I got it to recognize the mod, only thing I can't figure out is how to add the other model selections to the bots, namely having the Krystal, renamon and such models, when I try to it puts in a generic bot.
Also might want to mention in your info up top that TortoiseGit is a right clicking feature to get the clone menu, so people know how to access it

You need a separate bots file for now. You can download mine from here: http://pastebin.com/raw/g5grqUZP Put the contents of that paste in any of the data directories, and name it something like mybots.txt. Make sure to the separators remain tabs, spaces will not work! Then before you start a match, press ~ to open the console and type: bot_config_file "mybots.txt"
Simply clone https://gitlab.com/voretournament/v.....t-qcsrc.pk3dir inside the data_voretournament directory. Do not rename it, especially the .pk3dir part! The engine should automatically detect it, and everything should run fine. Remember to pull this repository every now and then for updates.
Okay, so I did the instructions exactly, substituting anything compile based with its download counterpart, but when I start up the game it reads "You have reached this menu due to missing or unlocatable content/data", then under it " You may consider adding -basedir /path/to/game to your commandline". Do you have any idea what I did wrong or miss?
Did you clone voretournament-qcsrc.pk3dir under data_voretournament, so that the directory path for it is something like C:\whatever\xonotic\data_voretournament\voretournament-qcsrc.pk3dir? You also need to launch xonotic.exe with the correct command line arguments, do so from a cmd prompt or create and edit a shortcut in the following way: xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
Okay, I made it work. The -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament wouldn't work in the actual application, so I made a shortcut and put the argument in there, in the start section of the properties. That seems to have fixed the problem, as it now starts up and everything. Thank you for your time.
Holy shit... it's actually worse than Romania's? Me and my mother need at least $400 here, to officially survive in decent conditions. We live in an apartment in Bucharest mind you... though I hear prices aren't always different at the country side either. In any case, neither can compare to America... living standards are scaled some 10x times there in comparison.
So, I downloaded Xonotic (as a zip, which is easy)
Then I caved in and Got around to installing Git for Windows and TortoiseGit
then looked at and tried to make sense of the rest of the instructions.
After hours of being curled up into a ball, loudly sobbing and cursing Tux the Penguin underneath a cold shower
I must say I'm growing desperate.
Do you even have an ETA for the next fully compiled, fully stable release of Vore Tournament?
Is it possible to zip up the contents of the vore tournament data folder so we can just put it in Xonotic ourselves without having to resort to GIT Wizardry?

The Git version of Vore Tournament is NOT tested against the latest release of Xonotic! It's meant to work against Xonotic's own Git repository. The VT release will indeed work with the official Xonotic zip available from xonotic.org, but it's not there yet. Like I said, I aim for a release this year but don't know exactly when it will happen.
Also Tortoise GIT is a Windows exclusive tool: In Linux Git is usually used from the command line, though I have a little tool called QGit that helps me in the mix. So not Tux's fault on this one For the time being, you need to use Git to get VT working... I suggest looking up a few tutorials, Tortoise is a relatively simple tool for it with an user friendly interface.
Note: Some people mentioned not being aware that to clone something, you right click a directory after installing Tortoise and select the clone option. Updated instructions may include this.

I'm not that computer savvy to be honest... So I don't exactly understand what you mean... But I kiinda understand what you meant x,3
Also, its been two years since the last videos? And I still haven't seen exactly the most recent updates and I'm eager to at least have a look at them, would you by chance have any recent gameplay screenshots? .3.

Oh wow! Now I really wanna play DX heheh, there's alit more diversity in the characters and the detail is much better than I remember from the videos.... Oh I hope this game is still running when I get a computer >~<
I would love to help anyway I can though! I can't really spend money but I can definitely advertise by posting on Facebook and such..? If that'd help?
(Is there a URL to the website I could use? Or is there no website..?)

That would definitely help, thank you! And yes, there's a lot of new content... especially since the new VT runs on top of Xonotic, which has replaced nearly all assets from Nexuiz. And there is indeed a whole new batch of default characters now, 5 species * 3 genders each
https://gitlab.com/voretournament/ is the URL for the whole Gitlab group, whereas https://gitlab.com/voretournament/d.....voretournament is for the actual mod. Thank you for spreading the word!
No need to ask: Xonotic and Vore Tournament are both freely licensed... you can redistribute and fork them, let alone make let's plays! In fact I've dreamed that someday, I might just get a popular let's play channel to do a video on it, just for giggles and to say "OMG it happened"... likely won't be getting that far though
Glad to hear that! The loading times might be because the GIT version of Xonotic uses very high-res uncompressed textures (some are 4096px). There are special cvars to compress to dds and save time and vRAM, which I needed to get acceptable performance with the free video drivers.
That's really weird then. It can't be a code bug since then I'd be getting it too. Maybe the bot skill cvar got offset for you... try setting 'bot_vore_skill_progress 0' and see if that fixes it (~ key to open the console). If not try a lower skill level, settable from the Create menu where you start the match.
Another thing to keep in mind: The more you're being swallowed by a player, the harder it is for you to swallow them back. So for instance, if you're 75% eaten, your own power as a pred might be so low that you can't even begin eating anyone else. Whoever starts swallowing first therefore has the advantage, as it makes it harder for the other to do the same... and since bots have a programmed aiming system, they'll obviously be the quickest on a maximum skill level.
As a heads up, the progress system was changed in the new VT a few weeks ago. Namely I added an exponential control, so the more a player has been swallowed the easier they are to keep swallowing... to the point where progress may idly increase instead of idly decreasing, so if you've swallowed a player far enough just standing next to them will cause them to keep being swallowed (even if you stop pressing E or F).
Nah, the code works the same way for everyone. Perhaps it's a bad cvar (setting) somewhere? You should find a xonotic/data_voretournament directory, somewhere in your Saved Games folder (I believe that's the path in Windows); Delete config.cfg in there, and any other cfg file for that matter... this should rule out that possibility, but of course you will lose all settings. If that doesn't fix it either, I'm mind blown at what it could be.
Nothing, actually this was the first thing I did
Did you really think that the one who passed Doom I and II without map(because I did not know how to turn it on) and The Neverhood without guide(because they did not exist then) did not try all ingame options
Если бы я писал на русском то тут бы уже был целый мануал на 2 страницы формата А4, где было бы подробно расписано, что я с этой игрой уже сделал
Damn language barrier...

Woah... that's some amazing skills And yeah, I am legitimately confused at this point... I need to think about what it could be, and if it is some kind of bug someone else might get it as well and I can hope to replicate.
One more thing that would be useful to know: When you get close to a bot and look at them, does the crosshair turn into a ! in a circle? This thing basically: http://i.imgur.com/Nk791j7.png

This is so weird. So if you press E while the crosshair is (!) you never see the inner ring filling up?
The last thing you can try is playing with the balance cvars from data_voretournament/autoexec/balanceVT.cfg. Don't modify this file, it's part of GIT and will give you conflicts later... just set each one in the console instead, which is temporary and does not persist engine restarts. g_balance_vore_swallow_speed_* cvars should be of the most interest here.
