Despite that it was against every rule that she had known, the letter had already been opened by one of those cheeky travelers. (Lot had taken it out of the bag on their Kank, but had done a poor job of replacing it and making it look as if that it had actually not been read before).
She was not happy at what it said.
The letter had been between two members of House Escalus - the very house she had dedicated her life to serving. They brought all the valuables to the oases who needed it so dearly. They brought water. They brought food. They brought medicine. All at fair prices. They traded the goods made by the villages.
And yet, this letter... the treachery.
Escalus was not only refusing to stand against Sorcerer-Queen Andromeda and her constant landgrabbing, but they had literally given up one of their most valuable holdings - all to secure important traderoutes to Abelinus and Valladoint. Sure, she knew that they had wanted access to the woods that were growing up north around the region, especially since the wood was such a commodity in Kimboihua and the Carapuna route. But to go to such extremes to secure what they want.
She was not pleased. It made her long for the days of the Tradelord Miant of Iyuuk. Ever since his death, things were just not the same between them and the House who had raised her and the others from when she was but a mere lass - born to a fate to die as bug food.
Miant's successor, she believed, truly was a toxic influence on Trade Lord Tyassus. And this was proof of it. Tyassus and Miant would NEVER have traded an oasis's citizens to Andromeda just so that they can go to the north regions uncontested. Never to Andromeda - never to that patricidal person."
tldr? An npc I play from our pathfinder campaign did NOT like what she saw in that letter that she was to transport - along with the party.
This was before our group also adopted a pet aphid. It's still alive.
