Yeah, the English adjective "feral" comes from Latin "ferus" meaning "wild."
Perhaps some Old Norse dialects preserved the "t" in "villtr" (giving rise to Icelandic "villtur" ~ "viltr") ~ "wild"
Whereas others dropped the t ~ "villr" in order to not confuse it with the similarly spelled adjective "villtr" ~ "astray / lost"
"Villtr-Stormr er ekki villt, en heldr veginn veit."
"Wild-Storm is not lost, but rather (the) way knows."
