Bast charges forward, power and grace combine,
sunlight casting a golden glow onto the mighty liontaur,
as he rears up into a leap, still running full speed.
In that same moment, in one fluid motion,
his spear arm thrusts forward and down.
Adding all his strength and momentum into the spear, he then releases his weapon,
sending it speeding towards his prey.
At the end of this same moment the chase will be over.
The spear will strike it's target, the prey will stumble and fall.
The hunter will land smooothly and effortlessly, just past the fallen target.
The prey is still and moves no more.
That one single heartbeat has finished.
The hunt has ended, and the moment is over.
Bast will reclaim his weapon, attend to his prey, and perform all the hunter's rituals.
Afterwards, the tawny warrior will gather up the prey, and resume his endless journey.
Hunter, traveller, watcher, and healer, he roams the vast savannah and jungles,
a lone vagabond, a wandering king.
