Felix shows he is not the quite the push over everyone thinks he is.

Question is will Captain Murphy believe that Felix will actually use the gun.

When did Felix get so bold?

I think he was able to do bold things, but never had the opportunity. Do not forget he has always wanted to be a Ranger, and Connor is his hero. The Rangers were bold when the need arose, so in his mind, I think, Felix see this as an appropriate Ranger reaction, as was his comments in the second panel. Rowan does/did not understand that Felix had an "ace" up his "sleeve" and was acting as he believes a Ranger would.

Of course I could be way off base, but only Frostclawn knows for sure. :=3

I'm also betting that Felix is pretty handy with firearms, but no one knows this.

I can see him growing up on a farm and learning to handle firearms safely and accurately was instrumental with his childhood, as well as learning to fix things around the farm.

I've always had it in my mind that he's a crack shot. Now we wait to see if he can apply it.

Wacky theory time!

My prediction is that Felix will end up killing or injuring the captain, or maybe getting him to surrender but get charged with mutiny before they can prove Murphy's involvement, leading to himself and Rowan being forced to abandon the alliance and possibly join up with Lex and Toby. It kind of goes along with the early drafts you mentioned.

Honestly, this is VERY close to a late version of the story where Felix, Connor and Rowan are framed for murder.

Lol... I saw the word clod and all I could think of is Steven Universe

I didn't want to use it for that reason but it was the only word I could think of (I even checked a thesaurus) that came off as an insult but also not terribly harsh. Rowan LIKES Felix but she sees him as a somewhat daft little goofball.
