I'd say the picture is pretty much self explanitory!
But for those who don't know what this is, it is a handleld 3DS XL sized pocket PC, running windows 10! Called the GPD WIN it is powerful enough to run most PC games from the last few years, so long as they aren't too graphically intense. I am running Overwatch in this image, and you can see its at a relatively high graphical level, and plays at a solid 30fps.
I personally think that the Nintendo Switch is vastly overpriced in Europe for what it is, and I think that this little beauty can outdo what the switch wants to do for a fraction of the price.
We're talking as many PC games as you can imagine, old, new, emulators too. The screen is super bright and vibrant (on par with iphone or PS Vita) it comes with a nice built in keyboard, shoulder buttons, D-pad, dual analogue sticks, face buttons. Enough to happilly acompany anything you're looking to play.
Here is an example of how Sonic Adventure looks http://sta.sh/061mh7vaiw1 and Just Cause 2 running real smooth http://sta.sh/01sv8tilfsqn
It is also great for emulation, running Zsnes, Epsxe, and all the regular emulators. But surprisingly it does amazing Gamecube emulation too, check out Mario Kart Double Dash http://sta.sh/01wy0q8tmpk2 and my personal favourite Timesplitters 2 http://sta.sh/01gtaaq00bt9
It has all kinds of slots on the back, room for MicroSD, USB 3.0, Mini HDMI, and you can effortlessly stream games over wifi. Battery life is around 5 hours playing an intensive game like Mass Effect 2.
If you have a Nintendo Switch I would love to hear your initial thoughts about it, I am personally very underwhelmed with how it looks and appears to handle, with a crappy framerate and extreme cost. £70 per game in the UK! Insane

complaining about cost shouldn't be a reason not to get it...thats like complaining about a popufur charging a lot. its a huge company with millions of people wanting their stuff, that have full right to charge that much for a piece of tech that in reality would probobly cost A LOT more if the production greed wasn't so high. Its like the DS but more amped, you're not paying for the system itself but more so the games and years you'll hopefully have with that machine.
consoles, computers, and hand helds are more so investments then anything. You aren't buying a single thing, you're investing money in something you'll be spending a lot of time time. not just the pretty new features

Yeah I agree the switch is crazy price. I guess it's got some Tech in it to make it so, the joy cons probably the most of its cost.
Though the games are not £70 ..Max is £60 but I've seen them for cheaper if you go to the right place.I've seen breath of the wild for £45 I know it's still pricey but best be accurate. :)

I'm glad you've got options that work out well for you! :D
So far I'm pretty happy with the Switch! and it does exactly what I want of a system that isn't my main pc - everything else!
They could add youtube and streaming services at ANY point though. The biggest issue I have with the Switch is that Nintendo can't figure out how to make money. Which is bizarre.

I just got the switch. and its a bit too early to really be giving a review. just like with the steam controller. ill probably make a full review after like a month of playing with it to really get a feel for it and how it works
now that being said i really want a GPD cause i play a lot of emulators and not to intensive games. so something like that seems fantastic.

The biggest issue i have with the switch, aside from its WEAK launch titles, is the fact that theyre pushing it more as a console than a handheld, which the markets ready for really. The New 3ds was a massive failure, and a clusterfucked one at that. Sure youll lose backwards compatibility, but thats going to happen eventually anyway! Nothing you can really do about that.
i highly doubt it runs better than the wii-u, but perhaps runs about the same..now
It took them a month to get it there though, where as the wii-u ran that well out of the box, save for a couple issues.. but after the first couple patches (which happened within the first week mind you) ran perfect.
This is because BotW is made for Wii-U. It was obviously not ready for the Switch on launch. But then again, the Switch wasnt ready for itself on launch~ :V And even then, theres still major issues with it that wont be ironed out until the inevitable redesign.

GPD Win is a nice portable I got one myself to test out and am currently loving it. But i dont think it will stop me from buying the nintendo switch. Personally, both are pretty pricey for the hardware your getting. Neither is bad or perfect either, they both have flaws. The real decision comes to weather you want to play Nintendo games or PC games, since the prices arent too far apart price is not the issue.
The switch launched with over 3 games at glorious 900p and only occasionally struggles to run the launch titles, which are wii u games ported to it so they'd have launch titles! 3 hour battery life, the left joycon randomly desyncs, no netflix/browser apps because reasons.
What's not to love? Now, give Papa Nintendo his $300 so he can continue to afford the lovely retirement home where outdated consoles by companies out of touch with their user base go to tell stories of the "good old days" to disinterested youth paid to take care of them.
In other words yeah, didn't get it. Prefer literally any other PC/console/tablet.

its just like playstation net work and XBL, Pc is different because game companies (and players some time as well) pay for severs Sony ,Microsoft have to host the severs for the games because its on there network (and don't go well it should be free because my feels and its free on PC ) if nintendo needs the money to host better servers then Yay better severs and less dropping form games , nintendo has been nice enough to host free online mulitplayer for nearly a decade now all they want is money to preform maintenance and upgrades, but wait i hear you say" thats a terrible thing becuase it was free and now i gotta pay what a farce i want to play stuff online, but i dont want to pay 5 usd a month, So is wrong" at leaste is not PSN thing where you had to pay a sub to play parts of 60 usd game and most of it was disabled.
That GPD WIN looks awesome! I should look into one of those!
Devil's advocate here though, I have yet to find a single Switch game that costs as much as that. All mine so far have been £40 or lower apart from Breath of the Wild. And the Switch runs great, though that's mainly due to newer manufacturing batches working better than the launch ones.

In retrospect the switch is much better than the GPD win!
Unfortunately just because something can be portable doesn't mean it should. Games on switch are designed to be handheld whereas 90% of games you can play on this are more suited to a big PC or console.
The system is too under powered, runs far too hot, lacks sufficient battery and generally suffers from crappy windows optimization (downloading updates every 5 minutes and crashing)
There IS a GPD Win 2 coming out soon which looks much more impressive. But for now I'd suggest the Switch hands down.

I actually already have the Switch (got it for Christmas, if I remember correctly), but I'm looking for a good computer to run a game like Xenoverse 2. My laptop can't even download it, because it's bigger than how much space I have on here, and I can get it on my desktop, but it's super laggy.
I mean, I bought Xenoverse 2 on the PC and I haven't been able to play it. Mostly I just wanna mod it though lol. Lots of cool stuff out there and unfortunately, you can't mod the Switch version. Far as I know anyway...
