Trying out a project this year to redraw one of my older pictures a month to update the terrible older attempt with a new take. For February, my Deviantart poll selected http://kathalia.deviantart.com/art/.....inks-224127170 My goal, in both pictures, was to try and capture a punk rock aesthetic for the character, a rebellious musician who angers a magic-weilding rival. My thoughts on the finished piece are somewhat mixed. I think that technically the lineart and colouring are better, but it seems to lack some of the rough energy that I really liked in the original. What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

I didn't know you had a DA account! I'm going to have to trawl it in case there are things there not on your FA one.
Feedback. I repeat my caveat that I am not an artist and don't usually critique art, so I can just give personal impressions. Still, you asked and I know from my own creative works how hard it can be to get any feedback at all so here I go.
I think, overall, I prefer the redraw to the original. The added details, such as the background and the detailed hair, are nice. I think I see what you mean by rough energy in the original, but I prefer the smoother style of the redraw personally.
My only complaint with the redraw is a pet peeve really. I really prefer the pose of the character in the original to the new one. The whole tippi-toes, knees inward pose has always struck a nerve with me, as I cannot see anyone ever standing that way. It just looks so weird to me. I get locking your knees together, shrinking in on oneself in surprise or shock, but standing on you toes? Even if your feet just changed to digitigrade, or even especially if you've just changed to digitigrade, you'd fall down or quickly have sore feet trying to maintain that pose.
So yeah, that's really just a pet peeve of mine. Ignoring that small rant, I do prefer the new version to the original and I hope you find my feedback useful even if I know almost nothing about art. I'm going to go do that aforementioned trawl now.
