Today I took a pretty huge step forward in trying to get rid of my phobia of balloons. I've lived with this phobia since I was around 2-3 years old. My parents tried to cure me off it by forcing me to pop alot of balloons when I was a kid and it didn't work. That put me off trying to cure it for the longest time. Most of the time id just run away and hide if balloons were brough out. Well today I decided to try and make some improvment. This is the first balloon I have ever blow up completely. Im not gonna lie I was nervous as all hell that it was gonna pop. But it didn't. I am somewhat proud of myself for this as this is a step in the right direction.
Im also going to probably be having some balloons tied to a tail at NFC to try so called "exposure therapy" which I'm pretty excited about. My biggest fear then is that they will pop by themselves or that someone will pop them just for fun.

i know how you feel cos I too have/had globophobia but the weird thing was that when I was really young I used to love playing with balloons but then after the balloon I was playing with popped I became scarred and I never touched or went into a room with a balloon in it, but now ive gotten over 1 part of my fear its just that 1 I cant stand the pop and 2 the noise you hear when someone forcefully rubs there fingers on a balloon, that sound goes through me. you know just to make you feel better im gonna click +watch cos I can relate to you

I can totally understand where you're coming from. That's very brave of you to want to wear them on your tail in public and face your fears! I hope it gives you a positive experience :3. Good for you for taking a balloon out and trying it all at your own pace. That really is the best way to approach it. Someone else forcing it on you is the least effective way to address a phobia really. There are some who don't have a phobia to popping, but just simply don't like it. That could be your case :3. You could just really dislike the possibility of the pop, so in that case, take the necessary precautions! Ear plugs, inflating the balloon to 80%, being gentle with it, these are some ways to ensure it wont pop. I hope that whoever you're around, if you take a balloon out, that they'll be respectful to your property.
