Having your house build partially underground has many advantages. Building your house into a tree has different advantages. I don't know if you ever can have both advantages at the same time. However, time is relative anyways. To travel into the future you just need to accelerate close to the speed of light. Having a lightwell in your underground house would be a neat thing thought (:
