The final project for my Introduction to Robotics course was based on the old 90s era show American Gladiators. In that show, there was a game called Powerball, where contestants had to grab balls and dunk them in buckets while being opposed by one of the gladiators. Strangely, I somewhat remember this.
At any rate, our robots were tasked with collecting balls and dunking them in buckets. Solving the problem on how to get the balls up to the buckets was taking too much time, so we instead focused on just collecting them. A rotating scoop sends balls that get near it towards the cage in the back. Antennea in the front are used to detect walls and other obstacles. A rotation sensor is attached to the scoop to detect if it is stuck.
Amazingly, our team managed to take 3rd place in the competition. I have some videos of the competition uploaded on YooTub, if anybody wants to see them
