This is my fursuit.
The coloring of the clothes and the Eastern Star I hold while wearing it actually quite important. But I doubt anyone here would know the meaning

So very close-the synthesis of those colors actually represents liberation and release from any kind of bondage. I see it as a reversion from the stultifying modern world to a place much mote wild, primitive, and free. Of course, I could apply the concept of being free to all sorts of things that can cause a negative impact in anyone's life, addictions and abusive relationships, depression and even boredom. Yet there is a very specific movement that crimson, black, and green became associated with about a hundred years ago. Though I doubt most people in fandom recognize those colors as being important.
Well, the founder of the Pan African movement, Marcus Garvey, really liked Ethiopia. That pentagram is their banner. My professor spoke very highly of the man and his beliefs, she even said she was going to Senegal after semester was over. I can honestly say she opened my mind to the concept of "privilege". She forced me to ask questions as to whether incoming immigrants to America can ever truly become part of an unjust society that discriminates against them. In the end, I arrived at the belief that if you don't love America, there is nothing wrong with turning tail. I wonder why Garveyism isn't that popular nowadays.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would get on someone, verbally or physically, for wearing a fursuit. I mean, all kind of deviation is allowed and socially promoted. I would not go to a honky tonk outside of Tuscon wearing one, but I would not go there dressed up like Rue Paul either. De jure can be overturned in court, de facto cannot. Besides, fursuits are so cool. Everyone dreams of being something they are not, that is why we have so much fun on Halloween.
Or Mardi Gras. Or Purim. Or any of the other holidays where dressing up is recommended the world over.
I'm just thankful my college missed the whole memo on safe spaces and microaggressions but I didn't want to be the next college student who would lose tenure for going around in blackface. That's why I pretty much wore it to conventions where I knew people could dress up as Nazis or the Devil and not be castigated for it.
