Tyrii showing off her ability to spit a jet of frigid vapor from her mouth, possessed by only a few sya'rids. Most of her kind have the requisite chemical-containing glands removed as they can have rather serious and definitely inconvenient side effects when infected (a common occurrence, sadly).

The obscuring mist breath of the sya'rids can also be used as a directed weapon, though this requires quite a bit of training and practice to nail down. Since they have a very complicated larynx-like structure (otherwise the sya'rids would unable to speak English), the mist breath can actually be compressed through the vocal cords and launched out of the mouth at high speeds. This compression and then expansion of the gasses is also an adiabatic process, further decreasing the temperature of the mist jet to a staggering -160 degrees celsius. It is relatively short range and the sacs in the throat contain very little of the chemicals needed, so the ice jet is only usable once or twice a day unless the sya'rid follows a particular diet.
The attack is often called "cloudspit" as it often appears the individual is spitting a thin, arrow-like cloud from their maw.
