Today marks the 25th anniversary of one of the hardest, heaviest and most impactful metal albums I've ever had the pleasure to own. Vulgar Display was one of the first albums I bought for myself, when I ordered it and a few others from BMG music. Pantera meant a new shift for me in the music that I appreciated, from glam and classic rock to something much heavier and more heartfelt in my opinion. The raw emotion in this album is tangible. Dime's guitar work is a sonic punch in the face. To this day, every good metal album should feel the same way. A punch in the face!
I LOVE this album. It shaped me. If you don't feel the same way, walk on home, boy.
To pay tribute today, I doodled this up. My own Miles, taking a punch in the face. It's for Metal, so it's worth it.
(I drew this on an index card. It was a lot easier on a smaller canvas. maybe I'll try to doodle once a day like this.)
