Normal furry s*** or not, you did it well enough. And you don't need to make characters as you put it, you could always draw someone elses, much like your Pokemon art! Or that Vick one a few drawings back.

I think its an extension of my current existential malaise- with my uncertainty on things like identity, preferences, hopes and dreams, how do I "Do you", and express myself to fantastical extremes that the Furry Fandom is all about?

There was this idea in one of my nerd chats that, if I were to just try a more typical format for furry art, that I'd have a chance to feel a wee bit more liberated in my general self-expression, or at least "Get" the fandom as a whole more.

I'm also coming off years in a rather stuffy, fine art academic environment where I was actively discouraged from illustrative work. So, all in all, I'm just throwing a bit of a tantrum at the moment, as expressed through a hard cider, a graphics tablet, and a pink-haired... creature thing.

Who says you have to "get" the fandom at all? There are plenty of people on this site, and others, that draw furries, but don't get the fandom. I still don't understand it myself, and I've been in it for years.

When it comes down to it, you're great at your art. Keep it up, and just try to give different things a try from time to time. Try landscapes, I always enjoy those!

As for identity and what not, nobody can tell you what those are except yourself. Just remember to be reasonable, but also never limit your imagination.

In a sober retrospect, I realise I should have specified that the explitives were a part of rather affecrionate goading- that they were hoping I would try something new and maybe stumble upon something I like.
