basically, the goo monster that makes up everything she is (Alpha) is naturally pure black, and everything colored on her is kept that way through actual effort, though it's now pretty much subconscious, but when she reverts into a monster state for any reason and her humanity and consciousness is turned off, things start fading back to black!
