Ok, I really dislike her. how did she not see when she freaked out, HOT COFFEE spilled all over his face? THATS why he was screaming bloody murder! that shit /hurts/. I hope she gets some sort of comeuppance for jumping to conclusions and SHOOTING him

It's more of a combination of a tentacle grabbing her, the screaming and the tentacles spilling from his shirt which caused her fight-or-flight reaction.
And she's probably seen too many horror movies.
