sorry I'm a little late to this party. The mature version aside I really love the cultural idea of traveling bards and story tellers recording their history and stories on their wings, unfurling them like a script or canvas to tell those who would listen.

Yeah I had a lot of fun with the concept of this piece. Ghost Forger gave me a lot of freedom on what the markings actually represented (I did each panel as the representation of a dragon's life).
Regarding the mature version, while it was part of the commission request if it's not integral to the piece I always try to do it so there can be a clean version. Though with this one it really was secondary to his wing markings.
