About 30 years ago this helicopter was involved in a search for a missing ice fisherman on the Saginaw Bay. The fisherman wandered back to shore but the copter's rotors iced up and was flown inland to set down near Kawkawlin, Michigan. As the crew made use of a phone at a nearby gas station, someone tried to loot the helicopter. My CAP squadron was called in to provide security until the copter could be flown back to Selfridge ANG Base. The sister ship to this helicopter--white with orange stripe--also visited to site with a mechanic. Both helicopters flew together in a rare formation, back to base.

This was an ice breaker helicopter painted orange so they could find them against an all white background... the Coast Guard had two types - this smaller single engine one (Sikorsky) for shipboard activity and the larger twin engine one for land based work. The army called the larger one The Jolly Green Giant.
These days, all of their helicopters appear to be painted orange.
