Prologue-

Hey, want to hear a story? Oh you don’t? Tough.

It’s about a woman that was once kindhearted and giving, but over time she turned dark…very dark and cynical towards society-

Years ago, there was a young lady whose disposition was warm and giving. She brought reassurance and happiness to almost everyone that spoke to her…her smile and laugh so infectious, it could make others smile just being around her. People enjoyed talking to her, spending time with her, or just having a listening ear that wouldn’t judge them. And she loved knowing she had so many “friends” she could rely on- and that was enough to make her happy.

But like everything in life, there are always a few bad apples that ruin everything. People took advantage of her quiet yet caring nature. As she grew older and became aware of how the world really worked and how superficial and biased most people were, she grew full of rage and distrust. Her heart became dark and tainted from all the hurt, lies, and mistrust. Eventually, she began to distance herself from flaky friends and acquaintances, unrequited crushes and love interests that had scorned her, or anyone else not worth her time or effort…

Searching for a way to channel her rage and anger, she soon took up martial arts and sparring with swords and weapons as a means to distress and clear her mind. Noticing her unusually rough yet potent skills, her trainers continued to train and teach her more abilities while honing her rage into more useful outlets. She became lithe yet fierce with various weapons, her body grew stronger and faster. And her most lethal weapon of all, her mind, was sharp yet cunning enough to help her maneuver her way through life. Most people speculated that her trainers were curious to see how strong she could become...or maybe they were just afraid of her potential and they wanted to make sure she didn’t go down the wrong path.

Now older, wiser, strong-willed, and more confident, she has found peace in herself, and her life as a kunonchi. Who would have thought that violence –is- the answer to most of your problems? Either hired by others or acting on her own free will, she slays those that are deemed a threat to herself or others. Occasionally, she will throw in a random beating if someone gives her a dirty look or she has a bad vibe about someone-

And if her victims are truly (un)lucky, she will leave a monkshood on their corpse before departing. A beautiful, yet deadly calling card to warn others the consequences of wrongly crossing her path-

“Beauty comes with a price…” (to be continued)

A snippet of Whisper’s backstory as to why she became a fighter and ninja. If I ever get a ref sheet of her, I’ll write out a more detailed background of her and her abilities-

As most of my long term watchers know, every year I treat myself to a single awareness day piece…not that Whisper minds, but it’s cool thinking of new and creative ideas on how to celebrate being an independent, badass, and just all around awesome wolfcat.

Huge thanks to Refer for this awesome piece! I told her I wanted a piece of Whisper giving the viewer a “look but don’t touch” vibe and she totally nailed it! That and the monkshood was a very nice touch.

For those of you that don’t know what a monkshood, or wolf’s bane is: it’s a poisonous flower that while extremely beautiful, is poisonous and can cause death if not properly handled-

…yeah, that sounds like Whisper alright~
