Parkour Doran
I recently bought a pair of Vibram FiveFingers (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/products_KSO_m.cfm) and totally love them. They're fun, they work with your feet in a natural sort of way that most shoes don't, and effectively make it feel like you're walking barefoot everywhere. This has the effect of helping you balance better and feel more in touch with what you're walking on. From a furry/anthro standpoint, I think of them as artificial pawpads. Wearing them has a tendency to make me feel more fit than I actually am, and like I should be doing parkour across rooftops and such (pictured above).
I don't actually do parkour, I can only wish to be that cool. But I figured the picture had to be drawn. Yes, Mirror's Edge is to blame a little. Also as much as I wish I could say I'm the first person to get the idea of dragonifying a pair of FF's, so far as I know that distinction belongs to
Snapai (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/525241/).
Why is it that every time I decide to have some fun with perspective it turns into a shameless excuse to draw really large paws? Oh, right. because I'm me. ^^;

yay! :D I glad! Yeah it took me a little bit to convince myself I was brave enough to wear such an odd set of footwear in public, but so far pretty much all the attention I've gotten from them has all been positive. "wow, cool! Where did you get those? Are they comfortable?" Etc. So it's fun. :) And they feel like I'm walking around in bare paws and like I should be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound and stuff!
Not surprised! Iowa City has place that sells 'em too. I ended up ordering online so I could get the style I wanted, but I went to the local store to try a pair on and see what they felt like and determine what size I wanted. Nothing's stopping you from at least doing that. >;)
Squee, thanks so much! ^..^ I'm really pleased with how it came out. And yeah I love the FF's. And so far yes, have gotten plenty of comments and questions from people when I wear them out in public, all good though. People interested in what they're like and where I got them. Had two today. ;D
That did come out rather well, and yes, those shoes do look rather cool and interesting.
Also...is that a Cyberdog T-shirt I see there?
Top points I say for the pose and the perspective. Managed to get a good feeling of motion into that picture, something I've yet to be able to pull off...though I did start it sometime in one sketch...which I then forgot about about two years ago...now, where did I put it...?
Keep it up! Always happy to see more art from you!

Well spotted on the Cyberdog shirt! Was wondering if anybody might recognize that. ;) I'm quite happy with how the perspective and sense of motion came out myself, I think it might be one of my favorite drawings so far for that. It's intimidating to try but I keep pushing myself into it somehow. Transcript follows of conversation with self.
Doran's brain: "You should experiment more with dramatic perspective."
Doran: "But perspective is scary and intimidating!"
Doran's brain: "Yes but you can use it as an excuse to draw really big paws stuffed in the viewer's face."
Doran: "OOOOOOOOOOOO" *starts drawing*

*giggles* Ooh? What's the other one? I know of
Kurradragon's recent submission involving a dragoness wearing a pair of FF's, is that it or are there more FF's on FA I should know about? ;)

You nailed it right on the head. Gotta say I was surprised to see Kurra's first. Then whilst on the phone last night, that's when I heard about this one so I had to check it out for myself. Very lovely work and I gotta say I love the choice of the camouflage colored ones too. ^_^
Planning to get a pair for myself at some point but until then, it looks like there's another pair for me to gawk at *gawks and pokes at them innocently* O:)

*grins* Just really glad you like! And yeah, the black ones tempted me too but I ultimately just had to go with the blue and silver because it matches my fursona so perfectly. And the camo soles are just wacky and fun. As for getting yourself a pair, I certainly recommend them! They're great fun.
It's awesome ^_^ *pokes again* I was thinking about getting a black pair myself though the other one are still taunting in their own right. I have found the camo ones rather intriguing. I mean when it comes to the regular pairs, you can look at the toes and see that the big and pinky toes have ridges on the soles, whereas the other toes have smooth soles. I'm sure you've noticed that the big toes have the shoesize marked under the big toes too which is pretty col. But the camo ones have all those mix of color on them so now it's not just the stock stuff your feet and toes are moving, but now all those extra colors too. I could go on but well....you know.
I will admit that I did try on a pair and they definitely felt pretty interesting though I've been hearing some things about the Classic ones hurting people's heels a little bit so I might be looking into a different type as well. ^_^

I'm pretty sure the actual shape of the soles are the same regardless of color, the camo just makes it harder to see in the online photos. On mine it does say the size on the big toe, and both the big and pinky toe pads have ridges. I do enjoy the extra colors of the camo, it's a bit wild but fun. ^^ I went with the KSO style because I wanted them to be a bit more secure than the classics, as well as just liking the idea of preventing things from getting in there. So far they've been fantastic, nothing has wound up inside them besides my feets and I haven't had any discomfort in the heel or anywhere else. Only some stiffness in my legs after wearing them for an entire day at a furry picnic because I was using different muscles than I was used to!
Oh yes they are. I've done a lot of research on that myself and it's awesome. It might be a little hard to see but I can see em. *pokes them more* Still gotta love the camo with the treads on them.Nothing wrong with the KSO's really. I do like how secure they are compared to the Classics. It is official, I will be getting a pair of Classics myself sometime this week....well I should be anyways. ^_^ Thankfully there's no heel injuries but I'll keep on my guard as I've heard it's just the classics that do that. Though thanks for the extra heads up on the stiffness due to the different muscle use though. Also I can't believe I missed this response. Sorry about that. I'll explain sometime later.
Yeah basically. :) I think people who actually DO these things might argue there are subtle differences but in effect they're the same thing. I first heard of it through playing Mirror's Edge, but we also got to see it in that foot chase near the beginning of Casino Royale.
Aww, thanks! Really glad you like it so much! :) Always fun to find another person who loves FF's. This is my first pair and I love them. You're very right, they have to be the most comfortable and fun things I've ever put on my paws. And yes, they definitely get attention... I'm always having to answer questions about 'em. ;) But it's fun. I don't mind spreading the word about something I enjoy this much!
FiveFingers rule! I just bought my second pair, after my first pair lasted a year being used at work in a warehouse, climbing around at Badlands National Park, walking around jagged rocks underwater, and every other abuse you can think of.
Also love the shameless paw exposure. :>

As mentioned in the description: http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/pr.....s-KSO-Mens.htm
They're really interesting and fun. Essentially they let your body work like you're barefoot, but offer protection from gravel and broken glass and all the other reasons we usually wear shoes. As such they're incredibly comfortable, and widely agreed to be healthier for one's posture and such, since they're based on the idea that maybe several million years of human evolution knows what it's doing better than a few decades of shoe design. You can wear them pretty much anywhere you'd wear athletic shoes. I haven't gotten too many weird stares, more just curious and friendly questions. ^^
