Didn't think I would get this done on time, heh. Admittly, I wish it was a bit longer, but well, let's just say, I should give myself a bit more of a deadline, and try to get stuff done before a deadline.
Anyway, first Valentine's short I ever did. A change of pace, and try to show off a bit more romance. This one centering around Jack and Gem.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy :)

Bright red splashed brilliantly across the slowly darkening sky, the few clouds illuminated pink, as the sun continued on its daily journey from evening to night. A cool breeze drifted through the tall buildings of the city, a nice change of pace from a warm day. People still mingled about, as peak hour traffic started to slowly die down.
Crowds still mingled, and walked down the streets, couples close to each other as they went about with their plans for the evening. Valentine’s Day, restaurants were nearly always booked, couples wanting to treat their loved one to a nice dinner. Some however, had just finished, their romantic dinners, and now just enjoyed the slowly darkening sky.
One such couple walked, with one having their arm around the other as they embraced. A dingo and a coyote, a few years apart in age, with the coyote being older of the two, yet they still loved each other, having been dating for a few years by now. Both having agreed tonight was best to go out and just spend some time out of the house.
The dingo was a male named Jack, turned and smiled at the coyote, Gem. She wore a lovely blue evening dress, one that matched the colour of her eyes. Her hair was completely straight, not curled at the ends, like it normally was. She turned her head, flashing a loving smile at him, causing him to return it.
Jack wore simple, yet formal clothing for a night out. A freshly ironed button up shirt and a pair of black pants, ironed as well. He wasn’t much for dressing fancy, but for night outs, well he put up with it. His brown eyes glancing at Gem, as she leaned closer to him, her hands holding onto his arm.
“Lovely evening so far, wouldn’t you say, Jack?” Gem asked, looking at him, before leaning forward to give him a kiss on the cheek.
Jack nodded in agreement, before smiling himself. His fur feeling a bit warm as he hugged her a bit adding warmth and love to the hug. “I do agree, Gem. You know I was a bit worried that the weather might have been a bit of a problem today. But, I am glad to be wrong” he replied, looking up at the sky, as the stars start to twinkle through the clouds. He smiled, and then turned to her. “The night sky is beautiful, but not as beautiful as you, Gem” Jack said as he kissed her on the cheek.
Now it was time for the coyote to blush, as she smiled shyly at him. Not often she did, being shy, but it did make her look cute. “You think so?” she asked.
“I know so, Gem. You are the best thing to happen to my life” Jack replied, his brown eyes looking into her blue ones. He smiled, before turning to look in front of him again, as they headed to a park. There was something he wanted to get here. The park itself was rather peaceful tonight, the lights lining the paths shining warmly. The dingo looked ahead, towards the water fountain and the few benches that circled it.
“Gem, can I ask you to wait on one of these benches for a few minutes?” Jack asked, turning to face her.
The coyote looked at him, a bit curious, wondering if he was up to something. “I can do that… what are you up too though?”
“That’s a surprise, trust me Gem. I think you are going to love it!”
“Don’t take too long then” she called out, as she sat down. Careful to not ruin the dress, as she watched the retreating back of her boyfriend as he went off to get whatever he had planned. A smile cracked her muzzle as she started to go over happy memories the two have spent together. Her ears moved at the sound of an animal running off, her tail twitched slightly, wagging from side to side, though that was a pain to get through the dress.
A few minutes passed, as she waited, looking at a bird as it hopped across the ground, pecking for worms. Feral animals, the non-sentient ones were always interesting. Her ears moved towards the sound of approaching footsteps as she looked back up to the path. Jack walked down, hands behind his back and another smell to him, other than his scent. Not like it was someone else’s scent, the smell was more… flowery.
The dingo came to a pause, before moving his hands in front of him. A large bouquet of red roses outstretched towards her. “Here Gem, these are for you. I know you normally give them at the start, but I wanted to wait until now” the dingo explained.
Gem looked at them, surprise written on her face, before it settled to one of love as she took the roses. “There lovely, Jack” Gem said, looking up at him with a huge smile. She leaned down, taking a deep breath of the sweet, flowery smell, before looking back up at him. Only to almost be taken back, by the thin red box in his hands.
“I know you’re not really into this sort of stuff, Gem. But I saw this and what to get it for you” he explained handing it to her.
The coyote was speechless as she took the box, her heart melting a little as she saw the little message. ‘To Gem, thank you for being there for me, Love Jack.’ Carefully, she opened the box, her blue eyes widening as she saw what lay with in.
A silver bracelet, with a blue gem embedded into it. The craftsmen ship was not that of a cheap reproduction, yet not as grand as some of the larger chain stores. But still, her smile grew, looking up at the dingo.
Standing up, she wrapped her arms around him into a hug, as she planted her lips against his. Muzzle to muzzle as they kissed for a long drawn out minute, before breaking softly. The gentle smiles still on their faces.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Gem.”
