:D Everyone is so sensitive. How dare I comment on the unpleasing physical appearance of a fictional character. I'm such a dick for hurting her imaginary feelings. Not to mention the point behind this character is that she's SUPPOSED to be unattractive (from what I gather), who will later BECOME more attractive via Patreon participation. Who's going to be like; "Oh, don't change anything about her. We're all PC Robots, and she's beautiful the way she is."
this. completely this. I wonder how many people saw her initially and thought "Oh, she's ADORABLE!" (Probably not many, but there are those who will, out of spite, say they did, just to try and prove someone wrong...kinda like all those idiots who said "Well, I'll show Mrs. Obama! Tell me water is good for me, will she?! I Won't drink it out of spite!") As someone whom has delved into the Transformation type of artwork on a few occassions, I can tell you that NOBODY ever has anything nice to say about the beginning of the sequence. all the compliments come along when the TF is complete...people are fuckin' shallow, Boiken (Not to mention quick to white-knight their favorite artists because they think it might garner them some kind of favor with said artists)
All that negative aside, I actually like this piece..I clicked on it because I like it, because I wanted to see it...I think, though, that in her own mundane way, this character is kinda cute, in that "Clueless idiot" kind of way.

as someone who has also done transformation stuff, I can tell you that plenty of people like the look of characters at the start of a sequence. And nobody's under the impression that the character might take offense. People are calling out Boiken for commenting on someone's art just to say that they're glad they don't follow them on patreon, which is a super dickish thing to do.
I don't support ANYONE on Patreon. I'll never support a "paywall system" for anything; art or otherwise. However, I have commissioned many works from Fenwick in the past. The very first time he sold a character was to me. I support him plenty. Probably more than most of his Patreon regulars.
